1. Introduction
GPS (Global Positioning System) is a system of satellite navigation which allows determination of every globe position with help from signals received from satellites. The measurement accuracy with such a system varies between 30 meters (military) and 150 meters (commercial).
2. Operating principles
The satellites continuously broadcast signals that contain information about their position, the status and the exact time. Knowing these information, we can determine the distance and we can calculate the position of the object using the trilateration method.
3. Disturbance
Interference with radio broadcasts on UHF Plants VOR (VHF Omnidirectional Range) and DME (Distance Measuring Equipment) May lose satellite position on curves Elements of structure Electromagnetic and atmospheric disturbance
4. Augmentation systems
Basic GPS gear evolved through the next systems: -ABAS (Aircraft Based Augmentation System) -SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System) -GBAS (Ground Based Augmentation System).
Being composed from 3 geostationary satellites and a network of 3 fixed stations positioned on ground, EGNOS fulfills his purpose by broadcasting information that contain the sent GPS signals accuracy and confidence.
