BELTING

Definition
Drive belt can be define as a machine component that transmit power beetween other component It is a closed strip of material that links pulleys and other parts of the machine.

Type of Belting
Flat Belt V-Belt Belts Multi-Speed

FLAT BELT

Flat Belt
Flat belts were used early in line shafting to transmit power in factories. They were also used in countless farming, mining, and logging applications, such as bucksaws, sawmills, threshers, silo blowers, conveyors for filling corn cribs or haylofts, balers, water pumps (for wells, mines, or swampy farm fields), and electrical generators. The flat belt is a simple system of power transmission that was well suited for its day. It delivered high power for high speeds (500 hp for 10,000 ft/min), in cases of wide belts and large pulleys. These drives are bulky, requiring high tension leading to high loads, so vee belts have mainly replaced the flat-belts except when high speed is needed over power.

Flat Belt
Belt composed than the average coil material used to deliver the proposal between the two pulley block. Flat belt may be made of various materials such aslatex canvas, plastic, or flexible metal.

Belts MultiSpeed

Belts Multi-Speed
Gates Multi-Speed (Variable Speed) Belts Multi-Speed belts have a distinct shape. Multi-Speed belt top widths are usually greater than their thickness. This permits a greater range of speed ratios than standard belts. usually cogged or notched on the underside, Multi-Speed belts are specified for equipment which require changes in driveN speed during operation. Multi-Speed belts are specified by Top Width, Outside Circumference, and the required Groove Angle. The groove angle can be measured from the drive pulleys.

V - BELT

V-Belt : Trapezoid shaped belt, weave and consist of fibers embedded in resin and then wrapped with webbing and sap are used to transmit power from one to the shaft to the other through the pulley rotates with the same or differing speeds.

ADVANTAGE V-BELT
V-belt is more compact Slip small compared to the flat belt Quieter operation Able to reduce the shock at start Contained in the second round of the axis direction and a second position of the shaft can be any

DISADVANTAGE V-BELT
Can not be used for long distance axis. Shorter life time Construction is more complex than the pulley for flat belt pulley

Aplication V-Belt
The successor to the high speed machines, such as compressors, etc.. Rail radiator fan Agricultural machines Industrial machines machine tools Paper machines, textile machinery, etc..
