DO YOU KNOW?

Every year we throw away 50 billion food & drink cans,27 billion glass bottles and jars,65 million plastic & metal jar and can covers. More than 30% of our waste is packaging materials. 85% of our garbage is sent to dump,or landfill where it takes 100 to 400 years for things like clothes & aluminum to decompose. Glass has been found in perfect condition after even 4,000 years in earth!

One third of the solid waste is comes from Kitchen. Another one third is in the form of one third of the Paper. Rest of one third is in the form of Cans, Polythene, Glass bottles etc.

#Buy products that dont have a lot of packaging.

CARS, BIKES, SCOOTERS USE POLLUTION AND USE A LOT OF PETROL OR DIESEL.TO AVOID IT : USE PUBLIC TRANSPORT, CYCLE OR GO FOR CAR POOLING

USE COMPUTER TO SEND YOUR MESSAGES, LETTERS AND GREETINGS IN PLACE OF LETTERS ON PAPER OR GREETING CARDS. READ ON LINE NEWSPAPER AND MAGAZINES. WRITE ON THE BOTH SIDES OF PAPER USE COMPUTER TYPING.

IT SAVES THE PAPER

#Start a compost bin. Set aside a place in your yard to dispose certain food & plant materials.Over time,the materials will break down through Decomposition.The compost is good for the soil in your yard. #Save energy by turning off lights that u r not using. #Save water by turning off the tap while brushing your teeth. #Use plastic containers & reusable lunch bags to take lunch to school or office.

REUSE
SOME MATERIALS CAN BE REUSED, SO IN PLACE OF THROWING THEM, REUSE THEM:

USE CLOTH SACKS FOR SHOPPING. USE PLASTIC CONTAINERS & REUSABLE LUNCH BAGS. USE COFFEE CANS,BOXES & OTHER CONTAINERS TO MAKE FUN ARTS & CRAFT PROJECTS.

IN PLACE OF USING THE DISPOSABLE PLASTIC UTENSILS AND PLATES, USE SILVERWARE, ALUMINIUM WARES.

CREATION OF ROCK GARDEN IS THE BEST EXAMPLE OF REUSE OF WASTE.

RECYCLING OF PAPER
Procedure of paper recycling:#Paper is sorted by type & sent to a paper mill. #Hydrapupler cooks the paper until it is thick soup of fibres. Detergents & chemicals remove inks & paper becomes pulp. #Impurities are removed by series of washers. #Pulp is bleached with Cl to make it white & washed again. #Machine rolls out pulp & dries new paper. #Paper is cut to size , wrapped & shipped.

RECYCLING OF GLASS

Procedure to recycle glass:Imp actor crushes glass into chunks of broken or waste BOTTLE BANK glass,3/4inch in diameter. Cullet is dropped into weighing bin along with ingredients to make new glass. BOTTLE IN It is put into furnace, which USE melts it into a thick syrup at 2800 F. Syrup flows out of furnace into an automatic feeder ,where it is cut into bottle size portions. RECYCLING Bottle size portions flow down a chute into molds, where they NEW GLASS are shaped & cooled.

RECYCLING OF METAL

Procedure of Aluminum/ METAL recycling :Juice & soda cans are smashed & cut into dime size shreds. Shreds are placed in gas powered Al furnace, making liquid metal. Liquid flows into molds that form ingots or bars of metal. Rollers squeeze the ingots into sheets for new cans. Sheets are rolled in to coils & sent to a plant where they are shaped into cans again.

RECYCLING OF KITCHEN WASTE

PROCEDURE FOR RECYCLING OF ITCHEN WASTE:

Dig a pit. Put the kitchen waste in this Fresh Food pit. Cover the pit . Waste changes into the compost after few days due to action of bacteria which decompose it. This compost is a very good manure & can be used in the fields, gardens etc.

Recycling 1 ton of paper saves 17 trees & 7,000 gallons of water. Recycling 1 Aluminum can saves enough electricity to run a TV for three hrs. Recycling 1 glass bottle or jar saves enough electricity to light a 100-watt bulb for four hrs. Recycling 1 ton of plastic saves the equivalent of 1,000-2,000 gallons of gasoline. More than 30 million trees are cut down to produce a years supply of newspapers.
