Determinants of personality

PERSONALITY

We believe that personality means that a person has charm, a positive attitude toward life, a smiling face. When psychologist talk of personality they mean a dynamic concept describing the growth and development of a persons whole psychological system.

DEFINATION: We should think that personality is sum total of ways in which an individual interacts with others.
BY GORDON ALPORT The dynamic organization within the individual of those psychophysical system that determine his unique adjustments to his environment

THE MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR


It is the most widely used personality-assessment instrument in the world. It is the 100 questions personality test that ask how they usually feel or act in particular situation. On the basis of that answers different groups are made they are Extraverted or introverted Sensing or intuitive Thinking or feeling Judging or perceiving

BIOLOGIACAL FACTORS
HEREDITY It played an important role in determining an individual's personality. It reflects to physical structure,temperament,energy level. BRAIN Electrical stimulation of the brain & split brain psychology results indicates that a better understanding of human personality & behavior might come from closer study of brain.

PHYSICAL FEATURES

Physical features like tall or short, fat or skinny, black or white. This physical features will be influenced the personal effect on other & also affect self concept of individual Heredity would be fixed at birth & no amount of experience can be altering them through creation of suitable environment.

CULTURAL FACTORS

It reenacts to traditional practices, customs, procedure, norms and rules and regulations followed by the society. Cultural factors determine attitude towards independence, aggression, competition, cooperation, positive thinking, team spirit. Western culture influence Indian society.

FAMILY FACTORS
Family consist of husband and wife and their children's. Family role is very important in nurturing and personality development of their childrens. Family directly or indirectly influence to person for development of personality.

SOCIAL FACTORS

It refers to acquiring of wide rang of personality by acquiring and observed by themselves in organization and society. It focuses on good relationship, cooperation, coordination, and interaction among the members in the society.

SITUATIONAL FACTORS

Situational factors are very important to change in individual behavior in a different circumstances at different situation, it also influence the personality of individual person.
