B.H.E.L . AN OVERVIEW
BHELs first plant was set up in BHOPAL in 1960s under Indo-Soviet agreement. BHEL is the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India. It has been earning profits continuously since 1971-72. The wide network of BHEL has 14 manufacturing division, 150 project sites, eight service centers and 18 regional offices.

BEARINGS

Bearing is a machine element which support another moving element (journal). TYPES OF BEARINGS

1.Sliding contact type

2.Rolling contact type

EXCITATION SYSTEM

It is the power source that supplies the dc magnetizing current to the field windings of a synchronous generator thereby ultimately inducing ac voltage and current in the generator armature.

Types of excitation system

Rotating exciters
1:-Brush Type 2.Brushless 2.Series Type

Static exciters
1.Shunt Type

TYPICAL VIEW OF BLES

DIFFERENCE B/W BTES AND BLES

S.No

BTES

BLES

1.Requirments Require slip-rings

commutators and brushes

Do not require slip-rings commutators brushes Practically maintenance free

2. Maintenance
3.Operation

periodic maintenance required More noise operation

Less noise operation

Gives Better efficiency

4. Efficiency Gives little discrimination in efficiency
