E2E KPIs Performance Peak, Average, Cell-Edge

Cell EDGE throughput Cell edge shall be represented by the 5 percentile: the upper limit from the 5% lowest measured throughputs out of the entire set of individual measurement points. Average throuhput Average throughput shall be the numerical average value out of the entire set of individual measurement points. Peak throughput Peak throughput shall be represented by the maximum value reached out of the set of individual measurement points (100 percentile)

Network Counter Assessment

Typical table for high level KPI definition
KPI-565 Definition Voice Service Non-Accessibility Probability that the end-customer cant access the Mobile Telephony Service when requested

Method of calculation KPI target values Source of information <=1,5% Network Counters

Reporting

monthly

How does the method of KPI calculation look like ? Since KPI definitions are strongly vendor dependent a detailed definition is required
(Detailed definition: abstract definition + equation, space aggregation, measurement point, reporting period, time aggregation, screening level, trigger points, signalling flow from / to network, ., vendor specific translation)

Network Counter Assessment

Method of calculation within Vodafone
MAWD approach (Monthly Average Working Day) - aggregate data within a reporting period in the same way - refers to cell data in the networks - applies to working days excluding the weekends, bank holidays or

other special events/days

- Types of MAWD operators a) Arg Maximum: b) Maximum: PH_MAWD (peak hour) PHV_MAWD (peak hour value)

c) Sum:
d) Mean Value

S_MAWD (sum MAWD)

M_MAWD (mean MAWD)

Further Example - Utilisation Assessment

Method of calculation within Vodafone
Access network utilisation measures the physical resource usage

TRX

DL Power UL Noise Codes

Overall utilisation = TRX utilisation

Channel Elements
Overall utilisation = MAX resource

Capacity acc. ErlangB according to the design target = 100% utilisation

75% load (design target) = 100% utilisation

but in 3G it is not easy as it is in 2G!

In 3G the max of the resources are used to derive the final utilisation figure Depending on the resource which is highly used different actions are required, e.g. putting more base band capacity

4 resources = 4 Dimensions
