What is the definition of POP

Pop music is a genre of popular music which originated in its modern form in

the 1950s, extracting from rock and roll. As a genre, pop music is very eclectic, often borrowing elements from other styles(genres) including urban, dance, rock and country; nonetheless, there are some core elements which define pop. The core elements: Short to medium length songs They are normally written in a basic format. They often repeat there choruses and melodic tunes. Pure pop music for example; power pop, normally features the below elements: Electric guitars, drums and bass The main goal in this case is usually that of the music being pleasurable to listen to, rather than having much artistic depth Pop music is generally thought of as a genre which is commercially recorded and desires to have a mass audience appeal. David Hatch and Stephen Millward define pop music as "a body of music which is distinguishable from popular, jazz, and folk music's".

Gangnam Style was the first ever Music video within the history of the internet, to reach over one billion views on YouTube. Gangnam style was released on July the 15th 2012. By the end of 2012, the song had topped the music charts in more than 30 Countries including; Canada, France, Germany, Australia, Italy Russia , Spain and the United Kingdom. As the song continued to swiftly gain popularity and ubiquity, its signature dance moves were attempted by many celebrities, artists and political leaders like David Cameron, Barack Obama, Madonna, Little Mix, Hugh Jackman, Britney Spears, Andrew Garfield and it was even preformed in a episode of Glee. In January 2013 the Britains Got Talents stars Ashleigh &Pudsey performed a routine at the National Television Awards which gained the song even more popularity.

Justin Biebers single Baby is the second most viewed music video on YouTube. This single has approximately 918,023,346 views on YouTube and to this day is still climbing. This single was released as the lead single from the latter half of Justin's debut album, My World 2.0. It was available for digital download on January the 18th 2010, and the song received airplay directly after its release. Baby was a commercial success, peaking at number one in France and charting in the top ten in countries such as the UK, Canada, The United States, Australia, Japan, Hungary, New Zealand, Ireland and Norway. On July the 12th 2010 it became the most viewed video in YouTube history, and remained there until the year 2012 where Gangnam Style by PSY surpassed it.

On the floor is an up tempo dance song, with influences of electro-pop and electro house, set in common time with a tempo of 130 beat per minute. Commercially On the floor is Jennifer's most successful single to date, as it topped more than twenty national single charts. It was Lopez's first single in four years to airplay and to date it has sold over three million copies and earn her a triple platinum certification. The song also certified triple Platinum in Australia and reached Platinum status in six other countries . This song got 700,265,778 views on YouTube.

The music video was directed by Emil Nava and it feature a 17 year old signing actor Mathew Morgan who signs the lyrics to the song.

Thriller proved to have a intense effect on pop culture and was named A watershed moment for the music industry due to its astonishing integration of filmmaking and music. In 2006 the Guinness World records listed it as the most successful music video, as it has sold over nine million copies since its release. In 2009, Jackson sold the rights of Thriller to the Nederlander Organisation which allowed them to make a Broadway musical of the video. Released at the same time as the music video was an hour long documentary called Making the Michael Jackson Thriller which provided viewers with glimpses of the behind the scenes production of the music video.
