INTRODUCTION NRAM CARBON NANOTUBE STORAGE IN NRAM ADVANTAGES LIMITATIONS APPLICATIONS OF NRAM FUTURE SCOPE
INTRODUCTION
NRAM, the wonder product of nanotechnology, is the patented trademark of the non volatile memory produced by Nanterno Inc, USA. The companys objective is to deliver a product that will replace all existing forms of memory, such as DRAM (Dynamic RAM), SRAM (Static RAM), and flash memory, and ultimately hard disk storage.
Types of RAM
DRAM( Dynamic RAM) although has a capability to hold large amounts of data, it is slower and volatile. SRAM (Static RAM) is even superior to DRAM in speed, but less denser. Even this is volatile in Nature.
Overcoming all these failures of above mentioned RAM S , there is a development of new RAM which unlike the semiconductor technology alone used by the former, uses a combination of NANO-TECHNOLOGY and contemporary SEMI-CONDUCTOR technology and is given name as NRAM.
Carbon Nanotubes:
Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) are a recently discovered allotrope of carbon.
They take the form of cylindrical carbon molecules and have novel properties that make them potentially useful in a wide variety of applications in nanotechnology, electronics, optics, and other fields of materials science.
The diameter of a nanotube is on the order of a few nanometers (approximately 50,000 times smaller than the width of a human hair), while they can be up to several millimeters in length.

ADVANTAGES OF NRAM
Permanently nonvolatile High speed High density Unlimited lifetime Low power consumption Data storage Very small in size
Limitations of Nano-RAM
Relatively high cost. Requirement of high precision. Over supply of DRAM NRAM is still in research phase
Application of NRAM
COMPUTERS AND LAPTOPS EMBEDDED MEMORY USED IN ELECTRONIC DEVICE FLASH MEMORIES INTO CAMERA CELL PHONES HIGH SPEED NETWORK SERVER
Future Scope
We could say that the prospects of nanotechnology are very bright. Nanotechnology will be an undeniable force in near future Beginning & usage of NRAM will give rise to instant ON computers
