LEADERSHIP PRIMER Figure 1. Modified Input-Process-Output (IPO) Model on the Administrators Personal Characteristics and their Transformational Leadership Styles

The research paradigm of this study is illustrated on figure 1 which is presented in a modified input-process-output (IPO) model on administrators personal characteristics and their transformational leadership styles. The input comprises of age, gender, civil status, salary, work experience, educational attainment, in-service training, and teacher-related activities of the respondents and the other variable consists of the transformational leadership styles of the administrators in terms of charismatic behavior, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized concept. Likewise, process will cover development and validation of questionnaire based on the above variables, administration of the instrument thereby arriving in developing a leadership primer.

METHODOLOGY
This chapter discusses the research locale, research design, population and sampling, research instrumentation, data gathering procedure and statistical treatment used in the study.

LOCALE OF THE STUDY

This research will be conducted in the First District of Quezon comprising of Lucban, Mauban, Pagbilao, Sampaloc and Tayabas. The selected elementary schools which will be subjected in study are: Paaralang Elementarya ng Lucban I, Pagbilao CES, Sampaloc ES (main), Mauban South, and Tayabas West CS I.

RESEARCH DESIGN
This study will use the descriptive type of research wherein data will be gathered through questionnaires and would be analyzed and interpreted in order to reveal the personal characteristics and the transformational leadership styles.

POPULATION AND SAMPLING

One hundred twenty-three (123) teachers will be randomly selected by the researcher to take part from the total population taken from the five (5) selected schools in the First District of Quezon.
Table 1 Frequency Distribution of Respondents
Name of Schools Paaralang Elementarya ng Lucban I Mauban South CES I Pagbilao Central Elementary School Sampaloc Elementary School (main) Tayabas West Central School I No. of Teacher Respondents 25 25 25 24 24

It is vivid in Table 1 that there are 25 teachers-respondents randomly selected from each of the schools namely Paaralang Elementarya ng Lucban I, Mauban South CES I, Pagbilao CES, Sampaloc Elementary School (main), and Tayabas West CS I. The distribution of respondents would be supposedly proportional across respondent schools however, during the retrieval of questionnaires, unavailability of two respondents from Sampaloc Elementary School (main) and Tayabas West Central School I made the total number only 124 instead of 125.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENTATION
The researcher will use self-made questionnaire to be administered to teachers of different elementary schools in the First District of Quezon. Through the questionnaires, personal characteristics and the transformational leadership styles of administrators will be assessed. The questionnaire will be subjected to validation. It will be first shown to the adviser for comments and suggestions. After some revisions of statements, it will be administered to 25 elementary school teachers who are not part of the study. Their answer for each statement will be treated statistically using the chi-square to evaluate if the statements in the questionnaire are good statements. The results will show that all statements are good and acceptable.

DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE

The researcher requested the approval and permit for conducting the study from the Schools Division Superintendent in the Division Quezon. Upon approval, the questionnaires will be personally administered by the researcher to selected elementary school teachers-respondents of the First Congressional District of Quezon. Prior to that, the researcher will request from the respondents to answer every question assuring them that their answer would be treated with confidentiality. The data coming from the respondents will be tallied, tabulated, analyzed and interpreted through appropriate statistical treatment.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT
To determine the personal characteristics of the administrators, frequency and percentage will be used. The formula is:
P = f/N x 100% Where:

P = percentage
f = frequency of responses N = total number of respondents

To identify the administrators transformational leadership styles, weighted arithmetic mean was employed. The formula is:
WM = 4f + 3f + 2f + f N

Where:
WM = weighted mean f = frequency of responses N = total number of respondents

To ascertain which among the administrators profile indicators singly or in combination significantly predicts the transformational leadership style, multiple regressions was utilized. The formula is:
Y = a + b1X1 + b2X2 + b3X3 Where:

Y = dependent variable being predicted or explained

a = constant or intercept bn = expected frequencies X1 = independent variable explaining the variance of Y
