Introduction

United Sugar Mills Limited was incorporated on May 26, 1991 as a


public limited company. The authorized capital of the share of the
company was Rs.350, 000,000/-. The certificate of commencement
of business was obtained in Feb, 9,1992.

The previous sponsor of the company could not manage to setup


the project and finally on intervention of the BEL shares. The
management of the project was transferred to the new sponsors in
1998. The name of the company was changed to United SUGAR
MILLS Ltd. On November 15,2000.
MEANING OF TRAINING –
 A framework for helping employees to develop their personal
and organizational skills, knowledge, and abilities.
 The focus of all aspects of Human Resource Development
 A learning process that involves the acquisition of knowledge,
sharpening of skills, concepts, rules, or changing of attitudes and
behavior to enhance the performance of employees.

The employees are given off-the-job training in the form of


lectures, video presentations, self-study, films and role plays
Seminars and Workshops
 Training and development department also arranges seminars and
workshops for their employees. The main purpose of these
seminars is to create awareness. Different seminars are for
different level of jobs. But the seminars that are regarding health,
safety and environment are for each and every employee.

 For finance department, they arrange seminars with the ICAI


(Institute of Chartered Accountants of India). All the employees in
the finance department have to complete these seminars. Their
attendance is mandatory and if they do not attend these seminars
then they have to give some penalty.
Assessment and Training Needs

 Through the help of performance appraisals, employee’s potential


strengths and weaknesses are assessed and formal training is
given to them to capitalize on their skills. The type of training and
the training period varies from individual to individual. employees
are motivated through job rotation so that they shouldn’t get bored
with their current jobs and put their skills and abilities in other tasks
and at the same time broaden their area of knowledge.

important role in training and development of its employees to be at

their knowledge. United Sugar Mills Limited also wants to enhance

in the corporate sector.

 Training usually starts from its orientation programs to management


training they spend million of dollars each year to enhance the skills
of its management and non-management employee’s through on
the job, off job, apprenticeship and coaching training programs.
