Introduction: Recipient Determination

You can specify recipients in various ways User: Enter the BI user names of the recipients

Users in Role: Enter the BI roles

E-Mail Addresses: Enter the e-mail addresses of the recipients, separated by semicolons

Authorization User: If you schedule the broadcast setting for background processing, system generates the document with the settings and authorizations of the specified user.
Language: If you schedule the broadcast setting for background processing, you can select the language in which the document is to be generated. User-Specific: Generate user-specific document

Email Bursting
What is Email Bursting ?? The concept of Email bursting lies in the Master data, means getting the recipient list /user Information from Master data of your object. This is called Bursting. How it works ?? It allows us to broadcast BI objects (queries, query views, Web templates, reports, or workbooks) as pre-calculated documents or online links by email to recipients that you determine on the basis of master data. You need to maintain the master data for the Object on which you would like to distribute your report.

You have the requirement to distribute your report to different Users & each user should receive data for his/her Interest. Lets Consider, Multiple users are responsible for one cost center One Cost Center can have multiple responsible people. Recipient Determination: You can define your recipient in multiple ways. In our example scenario we want to distribute the document Cost Center Wise. Filter Document by Characteristic Value The document is filtered by the characteristic value with which the recipient is identified. Each recipient receives the document filtered by the relevant characteristic values. Choose the required characteristic for which the recipient is maintained as an attribute. You can select from those characteristics that are included in the query or Data Provider of the Web Application or the report.

On the User/Language tab page you can determine for the background processing of the broadcast setting the language, authorizations with which the scheduled document is to be generated.

Importance: Select the importance level for the e-mail (low, medium, high). Contents: Enter text for the contents of the e-mail manually or use a text variable. Note: You cannot create your own Text Variables.

Filter Navigation: On the Filter Navigation tab page you can specify characteristics or a control query so that the system pre-calculates several documents with different filter settings from the same query or Web application. Filtering Using Selected Characteristics: The system pre-calculates several documents with various filter settings according to your chosen settings, if we select Period as the Filter characteristic then this setting would generate 2 separate documents per period for each Cost Center. Example: Cost Center report has sent for period 01.2009 02.2009 Cost Center CSTCTR1 CSTCTR1 Period 01.2009 02.2009

Now save & execute the setting. Result : This report will be distributed to two Cost Centers as below USER1 Will receive report for Cost Center 1 USER2 Will receive report for Cost Center 1 & Cost Center 2 USER3 Will receive report for Cost Center 2.
