Definition
Ethos A Greek word, which means both as individual character so also a community cuture. It is the characteristic spirit of culture, era or community. It is based on customs and tradition. They are neither judged right nor wrong.

The Indian Ethos is the outcome of the Hindu wayof life. Indian ethos means application of principles of managing an organisation revealed in out ancient wisdom described in Bhagwat Gita, Vedas, the Ramayana and Upanishads. It focuses on the principle- If you are good, the whole world is good. TQM can be assured through excellence at work through self-motivation and selfdevelopment.

Principles of Indian Ethos


Each soul is a potential GOD. Karma Yoga- Gita says that do your duty without ego and without calculations of gain or loss. One should believe in Nishkama Karma i.e. fruits of work should not be thought of while performing the duty. Why do I work?

Yogah Karmashu Kaushalam, Samatvan yoga uchyate- He who works with calm and even mind achieves the most. Self discoverer/ Know Yourself- Who are you? It is wisdom to know others. It is enlightenment to know ones self. -Lao Tzu.

So, understand yourself. The third eye- Dyana Chakshu- The eye of vision intuition, insight, foresight and such other divine qualities or values. Self-development: It is a continuous process. Perfection in work- Bhagwad Gita, pioneer of Modern Indian Industry- Dhirubhai Ambani: If you work with determination and with perfection, success will follow.

Present moment- Future depends on what action we are taking at present today. Self-motivation: Work as worship and nobody can encourage us more than ourselves, Do what you love to do and love what you are doing. Day-to-Day balanced life- Your mind is great friend if you control it but your mind is your greatest enemy if it controls you - Bhagwad Gita.
