Word-up Monday!

Learning new vocabulary!

Step 1 Directions

Each member of the group will need one piece of plain paper located at the center table Each member should collect a few markers or colored pencils

Your group will need one of the following vocabulary words written on the center of one piece of paper- thus when you are done, your group will have 4 pieces of paper, each with only one of these words in the center of the paper. The words are: Transfer, Convert, Frequency, and Compress

Next steps 3
Now, use your phone, a dictionary, or one of the desktop computers to find the definition for your word. Write it under the word. Then draw a picture that represents the word on the same side of the paper as the word and definition. Lastly, flip the paper over and make a sentence using the word. Write your first name next to the sentence.

Next steps 4
When the music starts, pass your paper to one of your group members. When you get your new paper, read the word, the definition, look at the picture, and the sentence they wrote. Add a picture that represents the word to the front of the paper, then flip the paper over and add a sentence using the word. Write your name next to your sentence.

Next steps 5

When the music stops, pass your paper to someone that has not added a picture or sentence. When you get your paper back, every group member should have added a sentence and a picture.

Take the word you have and find it written in the corner of the room. Go to that corner and make a circle. Share out your definitions, pictures and sentences. Make a poster on the whiteboard of the chosen picture, definition and sentence Pick a group representative to go to the reading nook and share out the poster

Your group representative will come to the center of the room and add your definition and sentence to the main poster.

Next you will be challenged to know these wordsword-up style. Move around the room to the music. Look at the projections and raise the number of fingers for the answer when the music stops. Keep your fingers up until the music starts again!
