Report text is a kind of text which has social function to describe the way things are, with the reference to a range of natural, man made and social phenomena in our environment.
Its generic structure are : General Classification : Tells what the phenomenon under discussion is. Description : Tells what the phenomenon under discussion is like in item of (1) part, (2) qualities, (3) habits or behaviors if living, uses, if non natural.

Your body needs energy produce minerals, vitamins and fibre. To calculate the number of calories needed per day for an everage person, first find out the person ideal weight. Then multiply the weight by 40 for a woman or 46 for a man. A 60 kilos woman may need about 2400 calories a day more if she does heavy physical work and less if she is very inactive.

The Example

Cendrawasih, The Bird of Paradis


In the dense forest of West Papua, there lives a group of birdes with brightly coloured feathers. The birds are commonly known as Cendrawasih. Their colours are so fantastic that people believe that they are from Paradise. People think that nothing else on earth has such glittering colours. In fact, only the males have these colourful feathers. The male birds display on the most colourful part of their feathers to attract females for mating. They try to attract as many females as possible before the end of the mating season. The males take no part in making a nest. Neither do they incubate the eggs nor rear the chicks. The female build a nest of leaves in a tree. It is about four to ten metres above the ground. They incubate two to four eggs for three weeks. By the time they leave the nest, the tail feathers of the male chick will have grown into a fantastic shape. The native of West Papua have used this birds feathers for their head decorations for many years. This has never endangered the birds population. However, the birds populations is now in real danger since people from other places have started to use the colourful feathers for commercial hat making.
