A DAYS EXCURSION TO THE MALACCA ZOO

Project : Fair Test

Project

1. You are require to design a set of instructions to carry out an fair test / project based on the excursion to Malacca Zoo. 2. Write a report for your project and present it with power point.
3. Your report must contains of: a) Purpose of project b) Materials / Things Needed c) Procedures d) Inferences e) Hypothesis f) Interpreting Data ( Table / Graph) g) Conclusion

How do i do my experiment?
1. Project purpose - What do you want to find out? Write sentence that explains what you are looking for. eg : To investigate/show the relationship between and . 2.Procedures- contains the steps needed to complete the experiment 3. Inferences - An inference is a suggested explanation based on evidence (which can lead to further testable hypotheses).

4. Hypothesis - an idea about the solution to a problem, based on knowledge and research .Your hypothesis is what you believe will happen when you run your experiment. It must be a statement not a question.

5. Experiment Design( procedures) - You have to write out step by step how you will test your hypothesis and how you will measure those changes. 6.Interpreting Data ( Table / Graph ) organize all the data collected during experimentation. Numbers, called "raw data," can be recorded in orderly way (table) 7. Material and equipment - Make sure you have everything you need to run your experiment and keep the list.

THE CRONOLOGY OF THE SCIENTIFIC PROJECT

Doing Research collecting information from your own experiences, from knowledgeable sources. Your first research is used to select a project topic collecting information The problem is the scientific question to be solved.

Identifying Problem

Stating a Hypothesis
Conducting project Experimentation

Reaching a Conclusion

a summary of the results of the project experimentation and a statement of how the results relate to the hypothesis

3 Table below shows some samples project and experiment that you can carry out.
R=Reference/Experiment S=Sample Project. 1) It is possible to distinguish between smokers and non-smokers by the sound and quality of their voice alone? S 2) Does gender, age, or smoking habits affect a persons sense of smell? R S 3) Will non-smokers have a greater lung capacity than smokers? R S

1)

It is possible to distinguish between the female and male animals by the sound alone? S 2) Does gender, age, or smoking habits affect a persons sense of smell? R S 3)How does the duration of insolation affect plant growth? 4)What is the percentage of water in various fruits and vegetables? 5)How does temperature affect the water uptake in celery plants 6)Does the type of water affect the growth of plants? 7) Is soil necessary for plant growth? (hydroponics study) 8)Does music affect animals growth? 9) What is the relationship between root and stem growth?

10)Which color of light causes green beans to grow best? 11) How do worms affect plant growth? 12)What is the effect of urine on grass?

Format : Project title : Do people from different backgrounds have different lung capacities? (write a title that describes what you are investigating. Try to make it catchy !)
Description : Students in the primary and intermediate grades will: 1. Recognize that breathing is a necessary, automatic life process; 2. Observe and record data on respiration rate; 3. demonstrate how air enters and leaves the lungs; 4. Observe how respiratory rate changes with different activities; 5. Use counting as a means of gathering data.

Figure 5.5: Example of a Table for a Sample Experiment A table can help to organize an investigation. Decide on your variables Write the column headings (include units) Choose the values for your manipulated variable Write in the values for your manipulated variable on the right column Add in the response variables while you do the practical on the left column

Figure 5.6: Example of a Bar Graph

Figure 5.7 shows another way to represent the data. This figure is a line graph (a diagram that uses lines to express patterns of change).
