Group-2

The employees face threat to safety when consultants arrive. 1. They feel job insecurity. 2. Performance issues 3. Their morale goes down. The CEO of the company has high need for power and low need for affiliation. He has high desires for accomplishment ,control and standards. 26 out of 40 employees are data processors and clerks.

Only the Data processors and clerks are observed for method study and time study this creates a threat to equity as they feel that it is unfair. The employees also feel that the input they have provided is not giving desired output as the performance study is carried out. Individuals outcome/individuals input=relational partners outcome /relational partners input. Inferiority complex is developed. When after 2 weeks the employees are informed about more detailed study the morale of the employees goes down and their expectancy need is also threatened.

The number of employees on leave doubles in 2 days. Each of them are nervous ,tired and tensed. The employee giving excuse of carpel tunnel syndrome shows that the work load is very high and working conditions are not up to the mark. The other employee gives Hawthrome example which tell us that they are being over observed and deprived of personal space causing inconvenience The employees are not happy with the management as they believe that the management is judging their performance under the influence of a third party.

When the chief of FTG system analysis tells Reems that the study would be unsuccessful with employees absent her need to job security is threatened. Her need for affiliation is more than her need for power. She also knows that her colleagues are resistant to change and her need for control is threatened . The performance of the entire department is non satisfactory as they are not cost effective and face the threat of being outsourced.

The consultation team should have been introduced by giving prior notice to employees in a casual manner. The employees should have been divided into teams and then observed. Each team should have been observed on different days so that they do not feel uncomfortable this would also develop team work and leadership among the members . They should be give proper time breaks and personal space.

The FTG team should have developed better interpersonal rapport with the employees before starting the study. Reems should have declared awards like best team best, employee of the week , best performer etc. to keep up their morale. Reems should have conducted feedback meeting to solve issues if any. The FTG team should not have informed the employees after 2 week of study that they were going to have a detailed study again only reems should have been informed instead.

Reems should have maintained transparency that their department faces the threat of being outsourced and should have used it as an tool to unite the department as a team. Reems should have set the goals for the department effectively well in advance and reassured the employees that none of them are expendable.
