Duration:

Duration of the course is nine months prior to the month of examination.

Eligibility:
After clearing Executive programme, student can appear in Professional course.

Registration:
Should register with the ICSI at least nine months in advance.

Subjects: (There are 9 Papers in three modules but the 9th paper has five options. The student has to choose any one elective from 5 subjects.) 1) Module-I
Advanced Company Law and Practice (100 marks) Secretarial Audit, Compliance Management and Due Diligence (25 + 75 marks) Advanced Tax Laws and Practice (Direct tax management = 30 + Central excise, Customs, VAT & Service tax = 70 marks)

2) Module-II Information Technology and Systems Audit Financial, Treasury and Forex Management (100 marks) Drafting, Appearances and Pleadings (100 marks)

3) Module-III Advanced Tax Laws and Practice (Direct tax management = 30 + Central excise, Customs, VAT & Service tax = 70 marks) Ethics, Governance and Sustainability (70 + 30 marks) Electives 1 out of below 5 subjects (100 marks)
a) Banking Law and Practice b) Capital, Commodity and Money Market c) Insurance Law and Practice d) Intellectual Property Rights Law and Practice e) International Business-Laws and Practices

Exams:
Exams of this course held twice in a year, in the month of June and December.

Exam Dates:
First week of June (2nd to 7th) 9.30 to 12.30 A.M. Last week of Dec. (26th to 31st) 9.30 to 12.30 A.M

Type of Paper:
Subjective

Passing Marks:
40% in each paper and 50% overall in all papers. Otherwise student has to reappear in exams.

Cut off dates:


*28th Feb. is the cut-off date for admission to appear in December exams. *31st August is the cut-off date for admission to appear in June exams next year *Fee Effective from 1st September, 2013

Fees Structure:
The course fee for professional programme is Rs. 12,000/- and the Examination fee is Rs. 1,200/- (per module).

Prospectus:
The cost of prospectus and Examination Application Form is Rs. 500/-.

Payment Option:
Payment can be done through demand draft, which has to be drawn in favor of The Institute of Company Secretaries of India, payable at New Delhi. OR Pay online (Gradually the institute plans to shift to online mode)

*The Training Orientation Programme (TOP) is for 5 days and is done before commencement of training. This is followed by training for 15 months after the candidate has passed the Intermediate Examination or Final Examination. There is a practical training for 3 months. This is after passing the Final examination and that too, for those, who have been exempted from undergoing the 15 months training. There is training with Registrar of Companies (ROC), Stock Exchange, financial or banking institution for 15 days. The Secretarial Modular Training Programme (SMTP) is conducted after the candidate has passed the Final Examination and completed the Training requirement. It is for 15 days. Depending on the practical experience of the candidates, they can be exempted from training completely or partially. Finally, the person allocated with a Professional Membership Number. After qualifying Professional Examination and on successful completion of training a candidate is admitted as an Associate Member of the ICSI and can use the letters ACS after his/her name, i.e., Associate Company Secretary OR CS if they are in employment.
