MINISTRY OF HELPS & EXHORTATION

Innovation & Creativity

Innovation is introducing something new or producing an idea. Creativity is the ability create or transcend ideas into reality! Creativity is a crucial part of the innovation equation. Creativity requires whole-brain thinking; right-brain imagination, artistry and intuition, plus left-brain logic and planning.

If youre one of those that feel you only operate in imagination or one in logic in the body of Christ gifts play a vital role in ministry.

Gifts are powerful. Solomon knew their power for good or evil. He warned against bribes to corrupt justice and pervert judgment (Pr 17:8,23; 19:6). He also knew gifts served a worthy purpose in obtaining favor and rewarding kindness (I Kings 5:1-12; 10:1-13).

Proverbs speaks of a man's gift making room for him - opening doors of opportunity and privilege that were otherwise off limits! A gift can be tangible or used interchangeably with talent.

The word speaks of a man's gift bringing him before great men - it gains entrance to the presence of those superior to the giver. A pharmaceutical salesman can have a few minutes with a physician for a gift to the nurses. The president of a bank will entertain large depositors, and a senator will golf with you for a sizable campaign contribution.

The power of gifts can be misused and abused. To give or receive a gift for the purpose of corrupting is bribery. It is a sin for both giver and receiver. The God of heaven condemned bribes (Ex 23:8; Deut 16:19; Ps 26:10; Is 5:23; Ezek 22:12; Amos 5:12; Mic 7:3). Samuel's sons took bribes, but Samuel never did such a thing (I Sam 8:3; 12:3).

God has placed within all of us gifts and talents that will enable us to be successful in life. These gifts give us a clue to the plans that God has for us. He desires that we use these gifts to glorify Him, to be successful in life, and to be a significant blessing to others.

Maybe your gift is some spiritual quality such as praying, teaching, walking in love, or encouraging others. Or it could be some kind of mental or emotional capacity that you have, such as a great memory, the capacity to figure out complex problems, or to express deep care to others. Perhaps your gift is some kind of ability such as organizational skills, musical ability, athletic ability, financial wisdom, or physical strength.

Below are some ways to develop the gifts within you so that you can achieve great things
First, focus your attention upon someone greater than you. Keep your eyes upon God who is greater than you! When you focus on God, you will be drawn to a higher leveltoward the greatness of God. Focusing on God will allow you to embrace His values and beliefs in you, and use your gifts with the proper motivation and method by setting goal and that God receives the glory!

Next, find a mentorsomeone from whom you can learn about what youre getting ready to accomplish. God did not intend that you travel the journey of His will by yourself. God has planned for individuals to cross your path that will help you rise up to the full potential of your gifts! Write down the mentor you have in your field of expertise. Many people in the Bible had a mentor. . . Moses

Then, count the cost of achieving great things. Realize that obtaining an education or skill, developing relationships, getting experience, and learning to endure difficult times are part of the price you pay for achieving great things. You may have to practice or work while others play, but remember, youre going someplace that these people are not going! Learn from what other people went through to achieve great things, and this will encourage you to continue your journey.

Finally, realize the gifts you have developed in you will open doors of opportunities for you. These gifts will cause people to notice you, to want to hire you, or to allow you to use your gifts around them. Great people will give audience, or give room, to you when you have fully developed your gifts, and allow you to achieve great things!

For innovation to flourish, organizations and ministries must create an environment that fosters creativity; bringing together multi-talented groups of people who work in close collaboration together exchanging knowledge, ideas and shaping the direction of the future.
