LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Now-a-days the present library management are done manually. The process of this system is maintaining the details of the issues, return and fine collection in records or files. There are many drawbacks in the existing manual system. The details of the books may be entered with mistakes while entering into the records by the person who maintains them. The records of the members cannot be updated and maintained frequently and may also be lost. This project is done to enhance the previous system by computerizing the library management system for issue, return and fine collection. This system keeps accurate members data stored in an easily accessible database. The system has the ability to update and maintain members information and details of the members who are issuing and returning to generate required outputs including reports

AIM:
TO MAINTAIN THE TRANSACTIONS FOR LIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM THROUGH AUTOMIZATION AND TO PROVIDE BETTER AND EFFICIENT SERICE.

OBJECTIVES:

ISSUE OF BOOKS. RETURNING THE BOOKS. FREQUENCY OF BOOKS AND THEIR COPIES. STUDENT MAINTANCE

Some of the problems being faced in manual system are as follows: Fast report generation is not possible. Tracing a book is difficult. Information about issue/return of the books are not properly maintained. No central database can be created as information is not available in database.

There will be four major components :

Stock maintenance. Transaction entry. Student maintenance messaging It provides "better and efficient" service to members. Reduce the workload of employee. Faster retrieval of information about the desired book. Provide facility for proper monitoring reduce paper work and provide data security. All details will be available on a click.

Proposed system provides with following solutions :

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: PROCESSOR CORE i3 RAM 1GB HARD DISK 320GB

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS: OPERATING SYSTEM : WINDOWS XP FRONT END: J2SE,JSP ,SERVLETS,HTML BACK END : ORACLE 10G

ADMIN/LIBRARIAN

MODULE

After we have completed the project we are sure the problems in the existing system can overcome with theLIBRARY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM .This process made computerized to reduce human errors and to increase the efficiency. The main focus of this project is to reduce human efforts. The maintenance of the records is made efficient, as all the records are stored in the database, through which data can be retrieved easily. The navigation control is provided in all the forms to navigate through the large amount of records. If the numbers of records are very large then user has to just type in the search string and user gets the results immediately. The editing is also made simpler. The user has to just type in the required field and press the update button to update the desired field. The Books and Students are given a particular unique id. So that they can be accessed correctly and without any errors. Our main aim of the project is to get the correct information about a particular student and books available in the library. The problems, which existed in the earlier system, have been removed to a large extent. And it is expected that this project will go a long way in satisfying users requirements. The computerization of the Library Management will not only improves the efficiency but will also reduce human stress thereby indirectly improving human recourses.
