HISTORY
1. Toyota was started in 1933 as a division of Toyoda Automatic Loom Works automobiles under the direction of the founder's son, Kiichiro Toyoda . 2. Its first vehicles were the A1 passenger car and the G1 in 1935. The Toyota Motor Co. was established as an independent company in 1937

3. In 1924, Sakichi Toyoda invented the Toyoda Model G Automatic Loom. The principle of Jidoka, which means the machine stops itself when a problem occurs, became later a part of the Toyota Production System 4. Vehicles were originally sold under the name "Toyoda" (), from the family name of the company's founder, Kiichir Toyoda

5.Risabur Toyoda, who had married into the family and was not born with that name, preferred "Toyota" ( ) because it took eight brush strokes (a lucky number) to write in Japanese, was visually simpler . 6.Since "Toyoda" literally means "fertile rice paddies", changing the name also prevented the company from being associated with old-fashioned farming. The newly formed word was trademarked and the company was registered in August 1937 as the "Toyota Motor Company".

7. Toyota received its first Japanese Quality Control Award at the start of the 1980s and began participating in a wide variety of motorsports. 8. In 1982, the Toyota Motor Company and Toyota Motor Sales merged into one company, the Toyota Motor Corporation. Two years later, Toyota entered into a joint venture with General Motors called the New United Motor Manufacturing.

9. Toyota then started to establish new brands at the end of the 1980s, with the launch of their luxury division Lexus in 1989

PRICING STRATEGY

The prices might be uniform or not uniform to buyers. The price can be different at different places due to the reason of labor, resources, and taxes. Besides, there are few competitors include Chevrolet, Honda, and Hyundai.

Normally when a company brings out a new product, they launch it with an introductory price which is usually low. In order to solve this problem, Toyota fortuner uses market penetration pricing. They redesigned the SUV and become a serious contender among SUVs.

It can attract a large number of buyers quickly and win a large market share. A part of that, they also redesigned the turbo engine i.e. D-4D which has power that matches most V6 engines in the class. The 2013 toyota fortuner should be on most SUV buyers lists because it provides pleasing performance, good fuel economy i.e. 9 in AT and 12.5 in MT and a spacious even in third row, hightech interior, all of which combine to make it a great value if compares to the others.

DISTRIBUTION CHANNELS
Its D-4D 3000cc engine comes from Japan to India in Karnataka. It assembled in Karnataka Kirloskar plant. From their it comes to particular showrooms in respective cities. From Plant SUVs are taken to different cities by roadways.

From showrooms SUV are delivered to respective customers.

COMPETING PRODUCTS
SsangYong Rexton vs Toyota Fortuner vs Ford Endeavour

We compare three of the most popular SUVs in India and settle the debate over supremacy once and for all.

For the adventure-seeker compromise!

there is no

The Toyota Fortuner, Indias most popular sport utility vehicle (SUV), has been further refined for the 2012 model year. The new model boasts a major upgrade and follows similar mid-life activity on the Toyota Hilux, with which the Fortuner shares a platform as part of Toyotas much lauded International Innovative Multipurpose Vehicle (IMV) programme. The combination of luxury, no -fuss reliability and proven off road capabilities has made it a popular choice as family vehicle and overlander alike. The Fortuner is in many respects a unique product in the Indian market.

Another contender in this segment is the rugged Endeavour, based on the Ford Ranger pick-up truck. It doesnt have the Fortuners modern flair in terms of looks and hasnt been as successful, but it has strong fundamentals that give it a tough, go-anywhere appeal.

The latest addition to this segment comes in the form of the new Rexton, the first product from Mahindra-owned SsangYong to be launched in India. The SsangYong promises a lot; it comes with a much cheaper price tag than the Toyota, this RX7 version comes loaded with features to keep its occupants happy, and this car has some amount of pedigree too its based on the first generation Mercedes-Benz M-class

SUGGETIONS AND STRATEGY

1.

Reduce price by 8-10 %.

2. Toyota should increase their road assistance.

3. The present market strategy is good enough for Fortuner therefore they should continue with it.
