Individual guidance is tailored to an individual.

It is advice, strategy or planning designed for a singular person or thing and their unique situation.

During individual sessions,

different techniques are often used as a way for students to express themselves. including play therapy (drawing, role playing).

Group refers to collection of

people, interaction between individuals. Group could be of any type ,but for guidance purposes a group should have a common goal.

Selection of group 14 members will have to depend on sharing a common problem, volunteering to be members and willingness to group activities.

To help people in identifying common problems.

To provide a platform where people with common problems could interact with each other and could be benefited by each others perspectives, idea and experiences.

To help in creating an atmosphere where people could get an opportunity to express themselves and in the process analyze themselves.

Inspires learning and understanding Saves time and effort Improvement of students attitude and behavior

These lessons focus on a specific issue that is positively or negatively impacting the learning in the classroom /school.

Topics may include bullying, conflict resolution, how to make and keep friends, test taking prep, personal hygiene and self-care, handling and managing our emotions, stranger danger, goal setting, and careers.

Purpose is to provide a safe environment for students with similar needs to connect, it allows for skills building, modeling, practicing and self-expression in a controlled environment.

Consistency
The homeroom teacher who sees the students on a regular basis can provide consistent emotional help throughout the school year

Trust
As students get to know the homeroom teacher, the students are more likely to trust the teacher.

Knowledge of Home Life

Homeroom teachers who develop a relationship with the student's parents, through phone calls and parent meetings, know more about the student's life at home and can help the child cope with life's challenges and successes.

Career Planning Homeroom guidance can also be a time to help students decide on their future careers.

Role Playing

Role-playing activities help grade school students learn to deal with difficult situations. By putting themselves in a mock situation, they get the opportunity to think about how they would react.

Emotions Grid
Teaching kids to identify and deal with their emotions works well as a guidance activity. Enlist the help of the class to make a large grid with different emotions. The students draw faces that correspond with different emotions.

Journal Give each student a journal and let them write during homeroom. Tell them it is a place where they can write out their concerns for the day and what is on their mind.
