Industrial disputes can be said to be disagreement or controversy between management and labour with respect to wages, working conditions,other employment matters or union recognition. Diversified goals of management and labour result in industrial conflict. Conflict is the basic feature of Industrial relations.

What is a strike?
A strike is a temporary cessation of work by a group of employees with a view to furthering or protecting their interest in general and securing a fulfillment of their specific demands in particular.
Right to strike is provided under Industrial Disputes Act,1947 Strike is the main weapon in hands of employees to achieve their goals.

According to Indian Labor Bureau over five million working days were lost in 2010 as a result of strikes and lock-outs in the country. State by analysis: West Bengal experienced the maximum number of strikes and lock-outs, followed by Tamil Nadu,Rajasthan,Andhra Pradesh and Kerala.(73.01%) Industry by analysis: Manufacturing Sector accounted for the highest number of disputes.(60.67%)

The issue was to form a union,

something the management was opposed to. the workers went on a 13-day strike on June 3,2012.
To ensure product quality, the

company insisted on workers signing a 'Good Conduct Bond,' which they refused. From August 29, the company again witnessed a 33-day strike.
The ice was broken when the

workers agreed to sign the good conduct bond on Friday, 21 October.

Jurisdictional strike are conducted with a view to force an employer to recognize or bargain with a particular trade union instead of another.
