gaps refer to the gap between academic teaching and industry requirement India is witnessing high rates of unemployment amongst the post graduates Even smaller cities like Chandigarh have a very high unemployment rate amongst the post graduates This issue is prevalent in almost all the states in India Employability gaps need to be addressed in a

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Employers in India always demand but are not

getting good number of High-caliber and capable-towork post graduates in the management area with Right Attitudes, Right Skills and Right Competencies to deliver results and achieve organizational objectives Getting them job-ready is turning out to be a huge area of expenditure and the turn around time is getting longer.
This is mainly due to employability gaps that exist

in the delivery of the post graduation/higher education space across India. Areas in soft skills include areas like: communication skills, body language, time

OBJECTIVES
To identify and understand the various

employability gaps that exist in the higher education space in India To understand industry expectations with regard to students of higher education To suggest remedial measures and frame strategies to bridge the employability gaps To prepare a model of how to develop employability and skills/competency

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Data Collection:

Primary Data: Responses from HR Managers and corporate through interviews, online survey and focus group discussion. Institutes and organizations like NHRD/SHRM/NIPM/ISTD/SHRM would be approached Secondary Data: Reference books on concerned topic Articles published in periodicals Related journals Internet/Website Research Studies and papers

Formulating to test an appropriate hypothesis.

Plan of research
Stage 1 This stage covers the theoretical

aspects relating to employability gaps, how employability gaps have been addressed till now, what attempts have been made by educational institutes and corporate in this regard referring journals, articles, research publications and reports Stage 2 Preparation of questionnaire, interview schedule, collection of data and information from the educational institutes and companies Stage 3 Analysis of the collected data. Stage 4 Observations, Recommendations

Expected Outcome
The causes of employability gaps to be

uncovered in relation to technical skills, analytical skills, soft skills and allied areas An understanding of the various deficiencies that exist in the higher education space in India A clear view of industry expectations from the students and the institutes in the higher education space in India An action plan to bridge the employability gaps that exist in the higher education space in India

Limitations
Huge sample population , which may lead to

improper representation of the sample Corporate environment being very dynamic making the process of recognizing employability gaps a difficult process The views expressed by the sample maybe very diverse leading to difficulties in formation of conclusion Limitations may also be in terms of covering all the courses in the higher education space due to new and evolving courses like fashion technology and alternative therapies

Bridging of Employability gaps is critical to fuel

the economic growth story of India Inc Leveraging of opportunities available in the market by students in the higher education space Better delivery standards on the part of institutes to ensure better student caliber addressing the corporate needs Right intervention by right entities to ensure employability gaps are qualitatively closed
