Type and operation of ATS There are 3 types of ATS

S.A.L

A- ATS G/M: This type is installed when the Mains electricity is available and the Gen-Set works as standby source. Operation: ATS monitors the Mains supply. When the Mains fails, the ATS starts, the Gen-Set the load is engaged after warm-up period. As soon as the Mains supply is available, the power is switched back after a restoration delay and the Generator shuts down after a certain cooling time without being in load. B- ATS G1/G2: This type of ATS is installed when the Mains electricity is completely absent and the 2 Gen-Sets work as Main source. Operation: G1 is running on load and when the time of the Generator on load comes to the end, the stand-by Generator will automatically starts and after warm-up period takes the load, then the first Generator stops after a certain cooling time and the cycle continues according the adjustable cycle time. In case the requested Generator fails to start or shuts down due to any fault, the stand-by Generator will automatically start and supply load until fixing the problem of the first one. C- ATS G1/G2/ M: This type of ATS is installed when the Mains electricity is available but during short time and the 2 Gen-Sets work as standby source. Operation: The ATS monitors the Mains supply. When the Mains fails, the ATS starts G1 or G2 depending on the cycle timer. Load is engaged after warm-up period. As soon as the Mains supply is available, the power is switched back and the Generator shuts down after a certain cooling time without being in load. When the time of the Generator on load comes to the end, the stand-by Generator will automatically starts and after warm-up period takes the load, then the first Generator stop after a certain cooling time and the cycle continues according the adjustable cycle time. In case the requested Generator fails to start or its contactor fails to engage or shuts down due to any fault, the stand-by Generator will automatically start and supply load until fixing the problem of the first one.

Major Problems and possible causes ATS G/M Problem
Mains is available but Gen-Set is running Mains is absent but the Gen-Set doesnt start Gen-Set is alive but there is no electricity on Load - OUV relay

S.A.L

cause
- AUTO mode - Relay RE - Mains contactor auxiliary - Gen-Set solenoid contactor - Contactor line from Gen-Set Panel - OUV relay - Gen-Set contactor auxiliary, - Mains solenoid contactor

Mains is available but there is no electricity on load

ATS G1/G2 Problem

Gen-Sets dont alternate G1or G2 is alive but there is no electricity on load Fault on G1 but G2 doesnt start Miss-connection of electrical inter-lock - Relays TS, RTS, RT -Contactor auxiliary and solenoid - Contactor line from Gen-Set panel - Signal coming from relay RA - Electrical interlock connection

cause

ATS G1/G2/M :Same as G/M + G1/G2
