Coca-Cola started its business in 1886 as a local soda producer in Atlanta, Georgia (US) selling about nine beverages

per day. By the 1920s, the company had begun expanding internationally, selling its products first in the Caribbean and Canadian markets and then moving in consecutive decades to Asia, Europe, South America and the Soviet Union. In 2005 it became the largest manufacturer, distributor and marketer of non-alcoholic beverages and syrups in the world. Coca-Cola is a publicly-held company listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

The companys CSR policy Live Positively establishes seven core areas where the company sets itself measurable goals to improve the business Sustainability practices. The core areas are beverage benefits, active healthy living, the community, energy and climate, sustainable packaging, water stewardship and the workplace.

Coca-Cola India Foundation, Anandana: An example is the rainwater harvesting project, where Coca-Colas operations partnered with the Central Ground Water Authority, the State Ground Water Boards, NGOs and communities to address water scarcity and depleting groundwater levels through rainwater harvesting techniques across 17 states in India.

Employability through Academia Partnerships: Genpact has taken its timetested curriculum to colleges to enable more employable graduates. The curriculum is imparted to the teachers who in turn teach the students. To date Genpact has conducted training in 50+ colleges and trained 100+ teachers.

They have helped two major government hospitals in Delhi optimize their patient flow and restored a nonfunctional governmentrun primary health centre in Gurgaon that serves 1000 needy patients per month. We have also sponsored a first of its kind emergency response ambulance service in Haryana that saves two lives a day.

They have started the journey with Rural BPOs to employ village youth who are most eager to learn and earn.
Interestingly 40% of the workforce in villages is women and they played a crucial role to be instrumental in their upliftment.

They have decreased their carbon footprint, improved their power efficiency, reduced waste and continue their journey in this direction with their countless functional efforts.

In 2011 Apples net sales were estimated at $108.2 million. Its net sales in 2011 increased by 60% compared to 2010.

Apple has considered the GRI G3.1 indices relating to the economy, the environment, human rights,society and labour for its publication on Governance, Product Environmental Reports, Recycling and Facilities Environmental Report and Supplier Responsibility.

With regard to Product Environmental Reports, Apple has used the EN26 performance indicator, and sets out initiatives to lessen the environmental impact of its products.

Apple designs its products with the aim of being as energy efficient as possible, and it is the only company that can claim all electronic goods are Energy Star qualified. Apples products have become more powerful while, at the same time, fewer materials are used and fewer carbon emissions are generated.

Ernst & Young Foundation (EFY) works around the 3 Es i.e.: Education, Environment Entrepreneurship.

EYFs Student Sponsorship Program helps academically bright financially needy students, passing out of Class X from government schools to complete their graduation. More than 3,000 children have been covered till 2010-11.

EYF has developed Animated Educational Content covering the learning objectives for EVS & Maths for Classes I to V (PC & DVD versions) for distribution free of cost to govt. schools / organizations imparting education free of cost to poor children.
Currently being piloted in 75 MCD schools.

E&Y funds the Ensuring Children LearnProgram run by Naandi Foundation covering 200 Rural Primary Schools in Kanker District in Chattisgarh impacting about 10,000 children. 60% of the children in these schools belong to the ST category.

In 2011 EY made a voluntary pledge to be carbon neutral and planted 1 lac trees with similar numbers to be planted in future years till EY achieves carbon neutral status.

EYF is in the process of signing an MoU with Dr. Reddys Foundation (DRF) to fund the deficit in 14 vocational training centres (5,000 students to be trained annually) to enable DRF move towards a sustainable model.

A Cradle-to-Cradle philosophy was used to design the newest generation Energy Starcompliant Canon devices which consume significantly less energy in their manufacture, transportation and use. The result of this is a smaller total carbon footprint.
These technologies have reduced CO2 emissions by approximately 11,000,000 tons.

The Canon Group Environmental Charter addresses the theme of maximizing resource efficiency from the dual approaches of environmental assurance and economic activities. It considers overall product lifecycles and sets environmental assurance activities for the entire group.

The company is also active in recycling. For example, in Singapore it recently joined other companies in a cartridge recycling project. Walmart was founded in 1962. Walmart offers to its customers a one-stop shopping experience and is the largest private employer in the US as well as being the worlds largest retailer.

With the aim of bridging the shortage of skilled workers, It offers short-term vocational certification courses through a special curriculum developed by Walmart, along with Centum Learning Systems. All enrolled candidates are awarded 100% scholarships.

These initiatives are aimed at improving the quality of education for children in Government and NGO-run schools. They have launched Masti ki Patthshaala in July 2011, partnering with Bharti and HOPE Foundation to adopt 50 schools and impact 20,000 children, of which75%will be girls.

Bharti Walmart procures fresh produce directly from small and marginal farmers thereby improving the quality of life of the farming communities we engage with. It helps us to increase the sourcing of quality local product.
The Direct Farm program began in Dec 2008 in farmers to encourage the cultivation of safe, highquality seasonal vegetables. It started with 65 farmers in Punjab and has expanded to include more than 3000 farmers across UP, DelhiNCR, Haryana, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
