Math tips
Remember your time tables Know how to divide Know how to add and subtract Remember your math rules Remember your short ways of doing hard problems

integers
If there opposites subtract

When adding two integers with the same sign (either both positive or both negative), add the integers and keep the same sign. To subtract positive and/or negative integers, just change th sign of the number being subtract Integers may also be adde horizontally.ed and then use the rules for adding integers. On a number line, numbers to the right of 0 are positive. Numbers to the left of 0 are negative, as shown in Figure 1. Subtracting positive and/or negative integers may also be done horizontally.

English tips
Know how to spell Read Know your punctuation How to listen Pay close attention

Decimals
Line up your decimals The system of numbers that you use is called the decimal system and is based on powers of ten

On the place value grid (see the following chart), notice that can be written as ten to a negative exponent, 101. Similarly, can be written as ten to a negative exponent, 102. Every number to the right of the decimal point is a decimal fraction (a fraction with a denominator of 10, 100, 1,000, and so on). Each place in the place value grid is ten times the value of the place to the right of it.

Example
|-4-7| - |-3-1(7)| You add -4 and -7 so you get positive 11 Then you add -3 , -1(7) so your get positive 10 Finally subtract 11 - 10 and youll get positive 1

Similes
Comparing two things Something the gets combine or leave this basis implicit. Comparing two thinks using like or as A simile differs from a metaphor A simile can explicitly provide the basis of a comparison or leave this basis implicit. (the girl is like a candy. )
