Math

The system of numbers that you use is called the decimal system and is based on powers of ten ( base ten system). Our number system is a place value system; that is, each place is assigned a different value. A fraction, or fractional number, is used to represent a part of a whole. Fractions consist of two numbers: a numerator (which is above the line) and a denominator (which is below the line). For example, 5 2/3 and 3 1/3 are both mixed numbers.

Algebraic fractions are fractions using a variable in the numerator or denominator, such as 3/x.

About the Test

April 18 is the day one of the big day also known as the CST. We are taking the test because it determines what kind of classes we are going to take next year. The schools goal is to reach 711.

How Ive Prepared for the CST

I

study every night for about 2 hours and a halve. I also review my notes, I take earlier in the day. I sleep extra early so I will

How SFMS Teachers have prepared us for the CST Teachers give us study sheets to
prepare us for the CST. They make us take important notes to study. They are also always telling us to go to sleep early and have a nutritious breakfast.

Test Taking Tips: The Night and Morning Before

The day before the CST I will take all of my notes from day one of the seventh grade and study them. After finishing from studying my notes, I would take a goodnights sleep to be prepared for the CST. You should study your notes for about two to three hours.

Test Taking Tips: During the Test

Concentrate

during the test. Dont hesitate when people are starting to finish the test. Dont rush. If you are stuck in a question, skip it and come back to it later. Dont cheat, all the tests are different.

English tips
Reread the text twice. Read the questions before you read the story or article. Underline or highlight important information. Try not to guess you might be wrong. If you are stuck on a question skip it and come back to it later

Our number system is a place value system. Each place is assigned a different value. Factors are numbers that are multiplied together to get a product that are called factors. The system of numbers that you use is called the decimal system and is based on powers of ten ( base ten system). A fraction, or fractional number, is used to represent a part of a whole. Algebra

Algebraic fractions are fractions using a variable in the numerator or denominator, such as . Because division by 0 is impossible, variables in the denominator have certain restrictions. The denominator can never equal 0. An equation is a mathematical sentence, a relationship between numbers and/or symbols that says two expressions are of equal value. Ratios and proportions are not only used in arithmetic, but are also commonly used in algebra (and geometry). If you have two different equations with the same two unknowns in each, you can solve for both unknowns. There are three common methods for solving: addition/subtraction, substitution, and graphing

Example
1/2 + 6/12 First you have to find the least common denominator which in this case is 12. You multiply 1 times 6 and 2 times 6. Then you get 6/12. Then you add 6/12 + 6/12. After you have added you will get 12/12 which will become 1 whole.

Similes
Similes are comparisons that use like or as. For example, Last summer it was as hot as an oven set at 630 degrees. Another example is, I was so cold last night it felt like I was going to freeze to death. a figure of speech in which two unlike things are explicitly compared, as in she is like a rose.
