last and greatest
Prophet, Muhammad
(s.a.w.)-there is a verse
Which speaks of the
Prophet’s family

 SAY: I DO NOT ASK OF
YOU ANY REWARD FOR IT
BUT LOVE FOR MY NEAR
RELATIVES……
HOLY QURAN(42:23)
ALLAH(swt) commands his
prophet to ask the people
to love his family in return
for all the hard work and
suffering that he endured
during his prophetic
mission.
BUT……………..
Who are the members
of the Prophet’s family
that this verse speaks
 Also there is another
verse which refers to
the same blessed family
of the holy Messenger
-33:33
………Allah only
desires to keep away
the uncleanness from
you, O people of the
House! And to purify
you a (thorough)
purifying." Holy
Qur'an (33:33)
Why did ALLAH (swt)
in his infinite wisdom,
want to purify this
family in addition to
asking the believers
to Love and obey
them?
Yet another verse talks
of this family in the
holy Quran…………
VERSE 3:61
But whoever disputes with
you in this matter after what
has come to you of
knowledge, then say: Come
let us call our sons and your
sons and our women and
your women and our selves
and your selves, then let us
be earnest in prayer, and
pray for the curse of Allah on
the liars.
Verse 3:61 is called the ayat
of Mubahela and it was
revealed on the eve of a
debate with the Christian
scholars of Najran after
prophet Muhammad and the
Christians were unable to
arrive on any mutual
understanding.
The next morning, in obeying
this commandment,
MUHAMMAD emerged from
his house with his closest
family. He came and stood
with this family in front of
the Christian bishops who
also came forward to
perform the Mubahela.
He held the hand of
HASSAN walking
beside him, held
HUSSAIN in his
arms,
followed by
his daughter
FATIMA
and finally by
his son-in-law
and cousin
ALI.
The Prophet came
and stood with this
family in front of
the Christian

The chief of the
Christians was bishop
Abul Harris. When he
saw this small family of
the Prophet he turned
towards his fellow
Christians and told
them…..
, "do not indulge in Mubahela
with this family, for I am
observing such pious faces
that if they would order the
mountain to come to them
the mountain shall move
towards them. It is therefore
necessary to make treaty
with them rather than
confrontation of this spiritual
They asked Muhammad
for peace and it was
accepted. Muhammad
extended the hand of
friendship towards them,
a treaty was signed and
both parties left on
friendly terms.
Therefore we
can conclude
from verse
3:61, that
Our sons
refers TO
HASSAN(as)
HUSSEIN(as)
Our Women
refers to
FATIMA
ZEHRA (as)
Ourselves
refers to the
Holy prophet
(as) and
ALI (as)
These are the holy
personalities that are
referred in all the three
verses mentioned

3:61
This is the family
whose members were
purified so that they
can be blessed with
the knowledge to
carry on the
teachings of ISLAM
after the Blessed
ALLAH (swt) knew a
time would come
when there would be
a split within the
Muslim community as
to who to obey.
False hadeeth and
corrupted testimonies
would be created to
hide the truth,
which would split the
Muslims
But the message of
ALLAH (swt) clearly
commands us through
his holy words where
the truth lies- with
those who have been
blessed and purified
BUT WHAT DID THE
MUSLIMS DO?
May ALLAH(swt) guide
us and keep us on the
straight path….
The path of whom he
has favored
And not the path of
those who have gone
astray and those who
have earned his anger
ON HIS DEATH BED PROPHET
MUHAMMAD (as) ASKED FOR
A PEN AND PAPER SO HE
COULD WRITE DOWN THE
WAY THAT WOULD PREVENT
THE MUSLIMS FROM GOING
ASTRAY……………. HE WAS
DENIED THIS BY A
COMPANION
