Summary of the case


H & H Bangladesh Ltd. Is a subsidiary company of R.T. corporation. The usual practice is that GM/CEO is appointed by R.T. corporation. Present GM Mr.X died by heart attack in the rest house of the company, while Mr.Y another senior executive were present in the rest house. R.T. corporation appoint Mr.Y as GM but the union leaders as well as the workers did not accept Mr.Y as GM & assaulted & removed him. The management then formed a inquiry committee but the committee failed foe the lack of witness. Then management file a case in the labor court against the trade union leaders but the case was dismissed for the lack of witness willing to testify.

Why is the corporation facing the problem that now

confronts it? What is the appropriate course of action that should now be taken by the corporation?

The newly appointed GM, Mr.Y is not familiar or well

known to the workforce When Mr.X died Mr.Y was with him so the workers are assuming that Mr.Y is responsible for the death of Mr.X in some way GM Mr.X was very popular & familiar with the workers

Trade union leaders are instigating the workers for not

to accept new appointed GM Mr.Y Trade union leaders assumed that the newly appointed GM will not work in their favor like the previous GM. Absence of good Industrial Relation

What is the appropriate course of action that should now be taken by the corporation?
Management should seat with the trade union leaders to

find out, why they are creating this situation. Management has to convince the trade union leader as well as the workers that, Mr.Y is not responsible for the death of Mr.X & it was a natural death.

What is the appropriate course of action that should now be taken by the corporation?
If the first two options failed then management will

convince the witness to testify about the case. If management failed in first three options then they should seat with the trade union leaders to appoint new GM from the eligible persons of the H & H Bangladesh.

Learning of the Study


The Industrial Relation may brittle due to lack of

proper human relations between the employees and employer. The absence of clearly defined objectives and policies of the organization created the basis of conflict. The proper communication system was not established in the organization. The examplanary implementation of disciplinary action. Absence of the participation of workers representative in decision making.
