(MBA-4th sem.)

AIRWAY:Airway helps in securing clear airway of unconscious patient. There are many types of airway using in hospitals like Oropharyngeal airway, nasopharyngeal airway, endotracheal tube, laryngeal mask airway etc.

Airway

ARTERIAL LINE:An arterial line, or artline, or a-line, is a thin catheter inserted into an artery. It is most commonly used in intensive care medicine and anesthesia to monitor the blood pressure real-time.

Arterial line

BED SIDE MONITOR (CARDIAC MONITOR):Fixed at the bed side of patient. It display the major body functions on a device that looks like a television screen or computer monitor. The monitor is attached to wires, called leads. used for the measurement vital functions like the heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure and temperature.

BI-LEVEL POSITIVE AIR PRESSURE:Bi-level positive airway pressure (BPAP) is a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) mode used during noninvasive positive pressure ventilation. It delivers a inspiratory positive airway pressure (IPAP) and expiratory positive airway pressure (EPAP). Bi-level positive airway pressure is used when positive airway pressure is needed with the addition of pressure support.

BI-PAP

BIO HAZARD DISPOSAL BOX:Bio hazard disposal box is a box which is used to dispose or store hospital waste which is harmful for the human.

BREATHING BAG (Manual Resuscitator):A breathing bag is a device used to temporarily help a patient breathe. The breathing bag is connected to an oxygen source. The bag is then squeezed and oxygen is pushed into the patient's lungs. used for a short period of time.

Breathing bag

BREATHING MACHINE ( VENTILATOR):A medical ventilator (or simply ventilator in context) is a machine designed to mechanically move breatheable air into and out of the lungs, to provide the mechanism of breathing for a patient who is physically unable to breathe, or breathing insufficiently. Ventilators are chiefly used in intensive care medicine, home care, and emergency medicine (as standalone units) and in anesthesia (as a component of an anesthesia machine).

BRONCHOSCOPE:Bronchoscope examination of bronchus. means

A bronchoscope is a device used to see the inside of the airways and lungs. The scope is passed through your mouth or nose, through your windpipe (trachea), and then into your lungs. Going through the nose is a good way to look at the upper airways. The mouth method allows the doctor to use a larger bronchoscope.

CALL BUTTON:A nurse call button is a button found around a hospital bed that allows patients in health care settings to alert a nurse or other health care staff member remotely of their need for help. When the button is pressed, a signal alerts staff at the nurse's station, and usually, a nurse or nurse assistant responds to such a call.

CENTRAL VENOUS LINE OR CATHETER:-

In medicine, a central venous catheter is a catheter placed into a large vein in the neck, chest or groin. It is used to administer medication or fluids, obtain blood tests, and directly obtain cardiovascular measurements such as the central venous pressure.

CAPNOGRAPHY
Capnography is the monitoring of the concentration or partial pressure of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the respiratory gases. It is usually presented as a graph of expiratory CO2 plotted against time, or, less commonly, but more usefully, expired volume. The capnogram is a direct monitor of the inhaled and exhaled concentration or partial pressure of CO2, and an indirect monitor of the CO2 partial pressure in the arterial blood. Capnography

CHEST DRAINAGE DEVICE:The chest drainage device includes a chest tube and a chest drainage unit. A chest tube is placed to remove air or fluid from around a patient's lung. The chest drainage unit is attached to the chest tube by elastic tubing that allows the air or fluid to drain. The chest drainage unit may be seen attached to the patient's bed or resting on the floor next to the patient's bed. Fluid draining from the chest will be seen in the chest drainage unit. Some chest drainage units have a chamber that bubbles constantly.

COLONOSCOPY:Colonoscopy or colos copy is the endoscopic examination of the large bowel and the distal part of the small bowel with a CCD camera or a fiber optic camera on a flexible tube passed through the anus. A colonoscopy allows an examination of the entire colon (1200 1500 mm in length).

Colonoscopy

DEFEBRILATOR:A defibrillator is a machine used to shock the victim's heart and restore the heart's normal rhythmic patterns.

Defibrillator

ELECROCARDIO GRAM MACHINE(ECG):Electrocardiography is a transthoracic (across the thorax or chest) interpretation of the electrical activity of the heart over a period of time, as detected by electrodes attached to the surface of the skin and recorded by a device external to the body. The recording produced by this noninvasive procedure is termed an electrocardiogram (also ECG or EKG).

ECG Machine

ECG PAD:An ECG pad is a small device that is placed on the body to detect the electrical activity of the heart. They are placed on the body and connected to wires (leads) that lead into an ECG machine (electrocardiograph), which displays the information on a bedside monitor and/or prints it. ECG pads do not hurt. Due to the adhesive used to hold ECG pads on the skin, when they are removed there is a small pull on the skin. ECG Pad

ENDOSCOPE:The endoscope is a convenient optical instrument which can be used to examine inside human and animal bodies.

Endoscope

GASTROSCOPE:A gastroscope is a special kind of endoscope. The gastroscope is a flexible plastic tube approximately four feet long and one half inch wide. The gastroscope contains optic fibers with a light source that allow the gastroscope to function like a video camera. The doctor uses the gastroscope to see the esophagus, stomach, and part of the small intestines (duodenum). Gastroscope

FEEDING TUBE:A feeding tube is a medical device used to provide nutrition to patients who cannot obtain nutrition by mouth Nasogastric tubes are often used in the intensive care unit (ICU) to provide nutrition to critically ill patients. Nasogastric tube

GASTROTOMY TUBE:A gastrostomy tube (also called a G-tube) is a tube inserted through the abdomen that delivers nutrition directly to the stomach. It's one of the ways doctors can make sure kids with trouble eating get the fluid and calories they need to grow.

G-Tube

INTRA AROTIC BALLOON PUMP:The Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) is a mechanical device that increases myocardial oxyg en perfusion while at the same time increasing cardiac output. It consists of a cylindrical polyethylene balloon that sits in the aorta, approximately 2 centimeters (0.79 in) from the left subclavian artery and counter pulsates. Intra arotic balloon pump

INTRA CRANIAL PRESSURE MONITOR:Intracranial pressure monitoring uses a device, placed inside the head, which senses the pressure inside the skull and sends its measurements to a recording device.

INFUSION PUMP:An infusion pump infuses fluids, m edication or nutrients i nto a patient's circulatory system. It is generally used intravenously.

INTRA VENOUS LINE:Intravenous therapy or IV therapy is the infusion of liquid substances directly into a vein. Intravenous therapy may be used to correct electrolyte imbalances, to deliver medications, for blood transfusion.

Intra venous line

LARYNGOSCOPE: Laryngoscopy (larynx + scopy) is a medical procedure that is used to obtain a view of the vocal folds and the glottis.

Laryngoscopy may be performed to facilitate tracheal intubation during general anesthesia or cardiopulmonary resuscitation or for procedures on the larynx or other parts of the upper tracheobronchial tree.
Laryngoscope

STETHOSCOPE:The stethoscope is an acoustic medical device for auscultation, or listening to the internal sounds of an animal or human body. It is often used to listen to lung and heart sounds. It is also used to listen to intestines and blood flow in arteries and veins. In combination with a sphygmomanometer, it is commonly used for measurements of blood pressure.

Stethoscope

PRESSURE BAG:A pressure bag, also called a pressure pump, is a special bag used with an IV bag. The IV bag contains fluids (blood, medications or nutrients) and connects via IV tubing to an IV line in the patient. IV fluids normally drip into the IV line. The pressure pump is used to help the IV fluids either run faster or continuously flow into the patient. A pressure bag is used when a critically ill or injured patient requires a rapid administration of fluids or blood products because of an emergency situation, such as low blood pressure or bleeding.
