90s G&M MAGAZINE

Important Question Missing?

Most commonly seen as the first question on surveys and questionnaires is the question : What is your gender? however I chose not to do this as before creating my survey I had decided to aim my magazine particularly at females this being I am more familiar with the roles of young girls / women during the 90s music industry in appose to the male gender.

Question 1 : How old are you ?.

How old are you?'
16-24 25-35 36+ Before collecting my survey data I made sure none of my participants were over the age of 40 years old this being I do not want to appeal to a mature adult audience. With my survey I did not just include quantitative questions for example the first question How old are you? as I am expecting to get a response from the categories I have provided to answer this question ; for that reason I also decided to use qualitative questions also as it is important to hear from your potential audience as to what they would like to see in the magazine this then helps to create a relationship between the reader and the publisher. From looking at the response to question 1 I decided to base by age demographic on the age of 16-25 years old.

Question 2 :Would you like past interviews of the 90s stars to be included?
Would you like past interviews of the 90's stars to be included?'
Yes All the participants of my survey answers to this question was an all across the board Yes ; as a personal response to this question this may be to create reliability to my magazine as a source of information relating to real life events/ stories . The fact that these headline stories will be backed up with interviews means we will be respected by the mass media of holding truthful however exciting information for all to see and believe.

Question 3 : If so how often would you like to see these interviews within our exclusive magazine?
If so how often would you like to see these interviews within our exclusive magazine?'
Once a month twice every six months 2 people Other 2 people

I feel it is good to find out from our potential audience what exactly they would like to see in our magazine and how often , this creates competition with our rivalry's of the same magazine genre. Looking at the response to this question I have decided to put a interview in every issue which would be once a month.

Question 4: What do you think of or who do you think of if you was to see the words90s vintage clothes and music?
What do you think of or who do you Think of if you was you was to see the Words 90s vintage clothes and music? This was a open question; I use these questions as personal reader guidance I link the responses I get from this question to knowledge I already have of the 90s and also inputting new ideas and facts after researching into the magazine also ; I do this as I do not want to be seen as acting of an omniscient as I want to share the readers thoughts and knowledge of the 90s as well as my own .

The price of the magazine helps to decide on the quality of the magazine I want to produce i.e. the quality of the paper and the contrasts of colours used also even down to the quantity and confidentiality of the information I provide within the magazine.

Question 6: What audience do you think the magazine should be targeted at ?

What audience do you think the magazine should be targeted at?'
16-24 25-35 0% 36+

40% 60%

Although I have already the asked the age of the individual participating in doing the survey I thought it was also a good idea to see which age range they feel this genre should be aimed from what they know about the genre themselves in comparison to another age range which may know more ; I feel this question does create a sense of relativism to the hypothesis of my survey question being To find out what age group would find my magazine more beneficial and interesting.
Looking at the responses from this question none of my participants have selected 36+ this may be due to maturity of that particular age group.

Question 7 : Do you want freebies to be included ?

Do you want freebies to be included?'
Yes No

100%

After analysing the response to this question as the results of this question came out as 100% for Yes this may be because as a magazine reader you would like to get the best out of the magazine especially if you are spending just under 5.00 for a magazine .

Question 8:What would you like to find within our magazine regarding the content ? ( what are your interest regarding the 90s R&B music e.g. the different clothes trends?

I have many things I wish to put into my magazine however the only way to gain a mass audience is to listen to my readers and include what they would like to see also.

Question 9 : What would you like the magazines contrast theme to be and with what mood colours?
Bright extravagant colours (neon colours bright green And pink). Dark sophisticated colours (navy blue , white and black). Peaceful colours (light blues , yellow).

I chose to ask this question as I was very unsure as to what the main colour theme of my magazine should however after gaining the 12 responses I came to a conclusion of making the theme colour burgundy, gold/yellow and purple.

Question 10:What 90s artists are you familiar with?

_________________ ______________ ___________ ____________ ____________ - answer

This is another open question which I used to gain information for myself when creating my magazine to see the artists which my survey volunteers are aware of and artists which I may need to introduce and also input facts and stories which they have not heard or come across.

After looking over all my results for each question my survey clearly has shown that my 90s music and fashion genre appeals more so to late teens and young adults therefore I have now chosen this age group to be my age demographic.
