ABSTRACT
Cognitive radio (CR) networks have been proposed as a solution to both spectrum inefficiency and spectrum scarcity problems. A spectrum-aware mobility management scheme is proposed for CR cellular networks. A novel network architecture is introduced to mitigate heterogeneous spectrum availability which supports : Spectrum mobility User mobility Intercell resource allocation.

INTRODUCTION
Wireless spectrum is currently regulated by government agencies and is assigned to license holders. Currently intercell handoff technology is used for 2G and 3G but only 15%-85% of frequency is utilized. To optimize the use of frequency CR network is introduced. Unlicensed devices share wireless channels with the licensed devices that are already using an assigned spectrum.

INTRODUCTION
CR networks, however, impose unique challenges resulting from high fluctuation in the available spectrum. To overcome challenges spectrum management is used. Spectrum management functions are: Spectrum sensing Spectrum decision Spectrum sharing Spectrum mobility

EXISTING SYSTEM
CHALLENGES OF CONSIDERATION
Heterogeneous mobility Dynamic spectrum Broad range of available spectrum

Proposed System
Spectrum Pool Structure To optimize spectrum usage the CR n/w, spectrum pool structure is used, It consists of: 1. Spectrum pool 2. Spectrum band 3. Channel Also, the cell coverage is extended to include two regions: BA(Basic area) & EA(extended area). cont..

Proposed System
By taking into account both user & spectrum mobility events we have 4 diff types of handoff schemes: Intracell/intrapool handoff Intercell/intrapool handoff Intercell/interpool handoff Intracell/interpool handoff

CONCLUSION
By exploiting the existing wireless spectrum, CR networks are being developed to solve current wireless network problems. CR networks, equipped with the cognitive radio, will provide an ultimate spectrum- aware communication paradigm . In particular, we investigate novel spectrum management functionalities such as spectrum sensing, spectrum decision, spectrum sharing, and spectrum mobility.

FUTURE ENHANCEMENT
Future wireless networking will be characterized by devices that will have self-optimizing entity. These devices will sense, respond and adapt to the presence of people, objects, and to varying environmental characteristics. Service Aware Protocol Design : Another concern is the efficient support of rich multimedia applications and services over dynamic wireless environment. Especially, the delivery and transport of multimedia to heterogeneous mobile users is very challenging.
