The southern region of the country particularly the coastal belt is very much vulnerable to climate change impacts. Amtali being in coastal belt is under threats from the climate change impacts. The possible climate change impacts are: Increasing temperature leading to increase in water demand; Enhance evaporation rate resulting to drying up surface water pond, lake, canals and water storage/reservoir facilities; Prolonged dry spells during dry season leading to increased water demand; Cyclonic storms like Sidr/Aila cause disruption of water supply; Sea level rise due thermal expansion and melting of glacier or storm surge will increase the risk of salinity intrusion in ground water, the source for urban water supply.
Water Supply: Ensure safe drinking water throughout the year (by increasing public awareness on economic use of water)
Present situation
Pourashava has 2 Production Tube Wells (PTWs) of which one is inoperative. One overhead tank, 18 km pipeline network and 230 deep hand tube wells
Ensure safe water for drinking and other domestic uses 24 hours delivery services(by increasing public awareness on economic use of water) To meet water demand for the year 2030, at least 4 Production Tube Wells, 2 Over Head Tanks and 32 km pipelines need to be installed in addition to the existing ones. Ensure safe drinking water in the cyclone shelters during flood times More hand pump tube wells (250) for the city dwellers living outside the piped water supply area need to be installed. Programme to sensitise the community regarding safe water use and hygiene practices.

Present situation
Water Supply System Surface water intakes from Baleshwar River . Public health, During disaster/tidal surge/flash flood, drinking water sources are affected and contaminated as the piped network and hand pump tube wells become submerged. Consequently, the communities suffer from water-sanitation related diseases. Recently, Cyclones Sidr and Aila had a severe impact on public health and the incidence of disease during these cyclones. Baleshwar River is suffering from siltation
