The ERP system project might not have appropriately addressed the issue of systems integration between applications
Due to inadequate consideration of the magnitude of the project.
Systems bought and installed were BroadVision online purchasing system Siebel systems sales force automation and order entry software A Lawson software financial system A Catalyst Manufacturing Services inventory control and warehouse management system Xelus product allocation, inventory management and purchasing forecasting software.
All these systems were integrated by common business databases managed by database software from Sybase Inc.
SUCCESS STORY
New combined system to properly access and deal with customized pricing charts for 17,000 customers who receive various types of discounts, and with an inventory of 380,000 different aerospace parts
Developing Aviall.com to reduce the cost per order from $9 per transaction to 39 cents by taking orders online rather than on phone. Customers are also able to transfer their orders from an Excel spreadsheet directly to the web site.
Customers have access to price and availability information in less than five seconds a real time feature Sales force being freed from the above advancements allows them more time developing customer relationships than processing routine orders. Also Aviall can better match production with demand from the IT improvement. Website now generates $60 million of the companys total of $800 million annually. This is nearly 7.5%, up from less than 2% a year ago.
