INDUSTRIAL DEFINED PROBLEM

Our Project Barcode Based Attendance and Payroll system is an industrial defined problem. We analyzed at BLUE STAR LTD that the attendance and Payroll management is done manually ,so our guide at BLUE STAR LTD Mr. Thomas Kuruvilla suggested us to develop an environment for automatic attendance and payroll system for temporary employees.

OVERVIEW
We have divided our project in four phases: Phase 1:Analysis of company environment and research work of project. Phase 2:Documnetation and implementation. Phase 3:Implemenation of database. Phase 4:Solve errors of complete system if time persist enhance it with SMS system.

EXISTING AND PROPOSED SYSTEM

Administrator needs to calculate the employees attendance percentage and payment throughout the working period of employee manually and come out with their own, not standardize employee's attendance and payroll report.

This system allows employee to easily get their ID cards scanned by the barcode reader in order to mark the attendance.

 Administrator can also view employees attendance percentage by date & control attendance reputation.
This project allows Administrator to get the calculated attendance as well as payment of each employee and view the attendance report throughout the working period of employee.

FEATURES OF THE PROJECT

Add/Delete/Edit employees records by supervisor. Marking attendance automatically using Barcode device based on the variance of shifts. Marking holiday/overtime for a particular day to all employees. Automatic leave management considering leave taken by employee , late entry and early exit. Manually attendance recording (or Marking) in case of the barcode device not working or not available. Easy to find the background of an employee. Maintains the date of hiring and leaving

Reusing Barcode I-card by assigning an old id to a new employee. Calculation of attendance based on attendance marked using barcode system. Calculation of payment of employees considering regular hours of working and overtime. Generation of report at the end of month.

Front-end Tool: - Java (Net Beans IDE 7.1.1) Back-end Tool: - Oracle 9i, Oracle 10g. Documentation Tool: - Microsoft Word 2007.

ASSUMPTION AND DEPENDENCIES

Administrator must have a user ID and password. There can be one/more Administrator (i.e. more than one person can have rights to manage the system) All the updates can be made only by Administrator. Employee must have barcode ID card in order to mark attendance using barcode system. Proper supporting software should be installed. Attendance of employee will be depended upon particular shift. Temporary Employee may work for 3 months, 6 months or above.
