Statement of the problem


The study will designed to investigate A comparative study of job satisfaction between Public and private elementary school teachers.

Rationale / Significance
This study would reveal of a number of confirmed information about existing conditions of job satisfaction among teachers at elementary Level. The important requirement of the head teacher is to create through his/her higher Qualification , professional skill, good behavior , love and affection, vision, insight, his/her respect in heart of everyone and to much that they accept his/her their leader. This study will help the administrator to check the level of the job satisfaction among teachers at elementary level this study will also provide information about important factors of school teachers job satisfaction. The finding of this study will also help in identifying teachers priorities about the environment and working condition.

Research questions
What are the opinions of teachers about job satisfaction? Why teachers choose the teaching field as job.? Which are the main factors mostly effect the job satisfaction?

Objectives of the study


To know how far the elementary school teachers of public and private sector are satisfied with their jobs. To find out the level of job satisfaction among male and female schools teachers. to identify the difference between social, economical and environmental need of Public and private elementary school teachers.

Review of related literature


Lunenburg Ornstein (1991) defined job satisfaction as to achieve ultimate satisfaction a musician must create music, an artist must paint, a teacher must teach students and an Administrator must lead people.

Locke (1976)

gives a comprehensive definition of

job satisfaction. According to him there are three dimensions. 1. Job satisfaction is an emotional response to a job situation. 2. Job satisfaction is often determined by how well outcomes meet Or exceed expectations. 3. Job satisfaction represents several related attitudes.

Smith, Kendall & Hulin (1969)


According to him there are five dimensions of job satisfaction. 1. The work itself 2. Pay 3. Promotion opportunities 4. Supervision 5. Co workers

Concept of job satisfaction


Job satisfaction is a positive attitude towards ones job. A few important definitions on job satisfaction are produced here. According to Feldman & Arnold (1983) job satisfaction will be defined as The amount of overall positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of ones job or job experience. In the opinion of Davis & Newstrom (1996) job satisfaction is a set of favorable Or unfavorable feelings with which employees view their work. There are three dimensions of job satisfaction. 1. Job satisfaction being an emotional response to a job cannot be seen. As such It can only be inferred. 2. Job satisfaction is often determined by how satisfaction outcomes meet or exceed ones expectations. 3. Job satisfaction represents an employees attitudes to wards five specific dimensions of the job. Pay, the work itself promotion opportunities s upervision and co workers.

Research design
The research design was descriptive in nature And was of survey type.

Method and procedure of the study


This research will carried out to survey and measure the factors contributing toward the job satisfaction of school teachers.

Population
All male and female elementary teachers of Lahore city were the population of this research.

Sampling of the study


A sample of 200 male and female teachers of elementary school ( pubic & private) of Lahore city were selected as a sample of this research. Convenient sampling Procedure will used for this research. Sampling procedure helps the researcher to select the representative units from which data can be gathered.

Collection of data
Questionnaires will distributed in the selected 20 schools of the Lahore city. The data will collected by the researchers personally among the male and female teachers of elementary schools. After one week, questionnaires will receive back by the respondents.

Data analysis
All computations will made by utilizing SPSS 16 software package. Data regarding the comparative study of job satisfaction between public and private elementary School teachers will analyzed through SPSS. Data analyzed in the form of Percentage and their bar charts.
