energy is nothing but the capacity of matter or radiation to do work.

It can neither be created nor be destroyed but it can be transfer from one to another.

TIDAL ENERGY

TIDAL ENERGY - 1
Tidal energy, sometimes called as Tidal energy, is a form of hydropower that converts the energy of tides into electricity. Tidal energy is generated by the relative motion of the Earth, Sun and the Moon, which interact via gravitational forces. Periodic changes of water levels, and associated tidal currents, are due to the gravitational attraction by the sun and moon.

Tidal energy -2
The magnitude of the tide at a location is the result of the changing positions of the Moon and Sun relative to the Earth, the effects of Earth, the effects of Earth rotation, and the local shape of the sea floor and coastlines. Because the Earths tides are caused by the tidal forces due to gravitational interaction with the Moon and Sun, and the Earths rotation, tidal power is practically inexhaustible and classified as a renewable energy source.

TIDAL ENERGY-3 Categories of tidal power

Tidal power can be classified into two main types:

Tidal stream systems make use of the kinetic energy of moving water to power turbines, in a similar way to windmills that use moving air. Barrages make use of the potential energy in the difference in height between high and low tides.

TIDAL STREAM GENERATORS

A relatively new technology, tidal stream generators draw energy from currents in much the same way as wind turbines. the higher density of water,832 times the density of air, means that a single generator can provide significant power at low tidal flow velocities. The water speeds nearly one-tenth of the speed of wind mill provide the same power for the same size of turbine system.

A number of other approaches are being tried: Horizontal axis turbines. Vertical axis turbines. Oscillating devices. Venturi effect.

The economic life of a tidal plant is very high. It is non-polluting. It is expected to be in production for 75 to 100 years in comparison with the 35 years of conventional fossil fuel plant.

wind is simple air in motion. It is caused by the uneven heating of the Earths surface is made of very different types of land and water, it absorbs the suns heat at different rates. It is called as renewable energy source because the wind will blow as the sun shines.

WIND POWER PLANTS

Wind power plants, or wind farms as they are sometimes called, are clusters of wind machines used to produce electricity. A wind farm usually has dozens of wind machines scattered over a large area. Unlike power plants, many wind plants are owned by public, they are known as Independent Power Producers.

WIND POWER PLANTS

ADVANTAGES
It is pollution-free. Sustainable form of energy Does not required fuel does not create green house gases

DISADVANTAGES
New technologies have decreased the cost of producing electricity from wind, and growth in wind power has been encouraged by tax breaks for renewable energy and green pricing programs.
