Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!

sisters to dwell together in unity. believe.

The Psalmist tells us these beautiful words about unity: How pleasant for brothers and

Jesus prayed to the Father: Father I pray that they may be oneso that the world might

The Apostle Paul in Ephesians reminded the early church of the unity we have in Christ, One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism. The Biblical admonition for unity is not a suggestion, but it is inherent in the nature of God. Therefore, the struggle for unity is always a divine struggle against the devil who wants to divide and separate. Jesus prayer for unity reminds us that unity is a basic necessity for successful evangelism. Where there is unity the Church grows. Where there is division the Church does not grow but in fact drives people from the church. We are pleased at the progress towards unity that Tremont Temple Baptist Church has made these past three years. This unity was evident in our Annual Meeting June 3rd. There was a good quorum. The election of our new officers was with a great approval of 71 to 5. New Ministry Leaders of TTBC: This issue of Temple Tidings lists all our officers, ministry leaders and team members. Congratulations to Chelsa Bailey who is the new Moderator. Please pray for all of our new leaders. Scripture reminds us that we are to respect our leaders and pray for them. We are pleased that Vantha Bun has moved from being Interim Chair of the Deacons to now being the official Chair. All of these good people need our prayers and support! A special word of thanks goes to Beverly Ross Denny for accepting the position of Chair of MOAF again. This requires a lot of work and Bev has done it with distinction. Thanks to Jacquie Johnson for agreeing to serve as our new Treasurer and Emily Costa as new Church Clerk. Vangie will lead Outreach Mission Ministries and John Shaughnessy will Chair the Building Committee. Janice will serve as Chair of the Ministry of Christian Education. Edna Jordal will continue to lead the Worship Ministry. We are grateful for the Coffees and opportunity to fellowship that is made possible by the Worship Ministry. Each of these ministries is a significant part of TTBC. Members working together for the upbuilding of the Church! Please pray for all of these leaders. Thank you to outgoing Leaders: In welcoming the new leaders, we also bid farewell and thank you to our retiring leaders. Thanks to Dick Lynch, who served as Moderator, Jessica Smith, as Treasurer, Dolly Salimbay (Young), as Chair of the Building Committee, Geoff Forrest Hicks, Chair of Christian Education, and Norman Crump as Chair of the Trustees. David Hope, as Chair of the Audit Committee, oversaw the successful audit of the past 10 years! A really great achievement! Also, thanks to Jennifer Bun, who served as Church Clerk and Ernie Jimenez, who served as leader of OutreachMissions. The Bylaws were amended to make explicit what was implicit. The Bylaws spoke of generally accepted procedures. The additional bylaw makes clear that Board and Committee meetings are closed unless the group votes otherwise. The reason for this is, of course, to protect the confidentiality of our members. There was a discussion concerning the phrase ex officio. This term was always a part of TTBC Bylaws. Ex officio with reference to the Church Council , means simply by virtue of office. In other words the Church Council is made up of the officers, and ministry leaders who by virtue of their office are members of and form the Church Council. PRAY for our Leaders! It is my prayer that the new Church Council works together for a

massive new outreach to the Boston Community. Mission and Evangelism are keys to the growth and life of the Church. Indeed, let us pray that Christ be lifted up and that men and women will confess him as Lord and Savior. Church Discipline: The deacons have been working these past six months on serious questions of Church Discipline. Following the procedures of Article XVI the deacons have called for a Special Business Meeting to be held Sunday, July 22. The Deacons have proceeded prayerfully and resolutely. Please make sure you attend this special business meeting. Guest Preacher: We are pleased that Dean Timothy George of Beeson Divinity School will be preaching for TTBC on Sunday, August 5th. Dr. George is an outstanding scholar, having written numerous books. He is also a significant editor of the journal, Christianity Today. Lets work together for that unity for which Christ prayed to the end that many in Boston will come to believe in Jesus Christ as their personal savior!

Yours in the Joy of Christ, Denton Lotz, Pastor

MISSIONARY LETTERS REPORT ......... This will be Capsule Report # 10 from our Missionary letters. We have only two reports for this month; one from our long supported couple, Romaine (Roe) and Dorothy Brooks who work with Campus Crusade for Christ International here in the USA. Our second letter is from our friend and member, Rev. LeSette Wright, who is now working with the Navigators under the name Peaceseekers, which works with individuals, families and communities impacted by violence. Roe and Dorothy report on a Saturday night Bible study and Sunday night for special films and discussion time which includes Internationals from China, India, Ghana and some Muslims. They had an Easter story displaying the vital story of Jesus arrest, trial, Crucifixion, death, burial and Resurrection with the appropriate Bible passages noted. A Chinese girl started to cry at the Nail display. Adults from church were there to relate and invite them to Easter dinner in their homes. Their letter closed with Thanks so much for your prayers and investments. Rev. LeSette Wrights letter introduced us to her background of studies including that at Harvard School of Public Health and her work with individuals and families impacted by violence, among other studies and work. She recounted her Ordination as a minister, which took place at Tremont Temple Baptist Church in June 2011, and a wonderful testimony to the influence her

mother had on her life. Her mother finished her race here on earth in January 2012 and is now at home with the Lord. LeSette asks for continued prayer and financial support. As always, it is our privilege and obligation to support our missionaries both by prayer and finances. Are you remembering this? Look for the Missionary Family list on our Sunday bulletins and remember each of them in prayer!
