Rosenkrans was said to have shunned all vices,
was never married, and was a devoted Christian.
In his later years, he lived quietly in a tiny
bungalow, composing music on an old reed pump
organ. He graded from Penfield High School in
1898, the only member of his family to do so.
He played baritone horn in the Penfield Band and was its conductor for a short
period of time. He often brought his compositions to nearby Grampian for the
Grampian band, his favorite band, to play. Members of the band remember
Rosenkrans as a portly figure who carried his music in a black satchel. He died a
poor lonely man, with only 14 friends attending his funeral.1
