The Z 242 L Guru is intended for basic and advanced training in civil and military flying schools. It is often used for touring flights, aerobatic flights and aerobatic training.The ZLIN can be used for night flight training, towing gliders and advertisement banners as well as for IFR flights. The revolutionary single-engine self-supporting low-wing plane excels with its easy steerability and thus by its trouble-free operation. It allows full control over the plane during all aerobatic turns.

The ZLIN Z 242 L Guru is the result of our efforts to fulfil demanding expectations of pilots and to ensure a pleasant, joyful and safe flying experience. Whether its safety of flight crew or protective functions of ZLIN planes, we have always something to offer: unique construction or five-point sports fastening belts, our SAFE-LIFE system the recording acceleration meter AMU serves for monitoring, evaluation and extension of planes life, nowadays even up to 20,000 flying hours.
The cockpit canopy opens forward and is equipped with emergency jettison system.

Tailor made sports innovations provide unforgettable flying experience. Due to low-wing design and bubbleshaped cockpit you will have perfect view and control of everything around you. Ergonomic adjustable sideby-side positioned seats are tailored for use of backtype parachutes. There is also enough of luggage space. Interior materials are strictly purposeful and are made of plastics, metals, leather and fabrics.

Changes in exterior of the new plane Z 143 LSi Genius have been made mainly in the design of motor hood, border wing curves and cockpit glazing. Usage of new composite parts helped achieve more elegant and aerodynamically neat shapes. Therefore the new Genius can show off its elegant and aerodynamic shapes. New materials provide easy access under the hood and optimization of costs on spare parts. The landing gear is designed for operation on unpaved take-off and landing strips. While landing and rolling, an excellent view from the cabin is a merit. A steerable front gear and efficient independent brakes on main wheels contribute to better manoeuvrability on the ground.

Multifunctional avionics Garmin G950 customized to ZLIN Z 143 LSi Genius integrates all basic flight and engine instruments into a digital displays.The function of displaying the surrounding terrain in 3D display is of invaluable help.The system is set for maximum usage and intuitive control. It helps pilots gain unique overview of the situation and increases safety of the crew. The essential data are collected in real time on two big adjustable displays with high resolution. Because we know that the pilot high above the ground always has to have the sense of maximum safety at any situation, we will not leave everything just on electronics. The basic instruments are backed up by analogue indicators. One of very frequent demands is the possibility of installation of autopilot. The ZLIN Z 143 L Guru is propelled by powerful American engine Textron Lycoming IO-540-C4D5. The single-piston four-stroke-cycle aircooled flat right-handed four-cylinder engine can deliver up to 235 HP in 2400 RPM. The fuel consumption is 39 litres (10.3 gal.) per hour in economy operation. The air is cut by propeller type MTV-9-B/195-45. Its a three-blade propeller with hydraulic variable pitch with constant rotations.
