Terahertz spectroscopy and related areas are emerging technologies that are relatively unknown to the scientific community. Even to spectroscopists, terahertz spectroscopy is a rather new term. The SCHB Division of the ACS began including a symposium on this branch of spectroscopy and related science & technology at the 242nd American Chemical Society National Meeting in Denver in 2011. This years 244th national meeting in Philadelphia will offer an all-day symposium entitled Terahertz Spectroscopy Moves From the Laboratory to the Commercial Sector. The primary thrust of this symposium is the application of terahertz technology in solving real-world problems that are not easy solve by any other methods. Topics as diverse Anis Rahman at MARM '12 in Baltimore between presentations as nano-scale particle characterization to single nucleotide polymorphism are addressed. On the other extreme, skin and transdermal drug delivery to mural paint coating quantification are also included. Speakers of this symposium include renowned researchers from industry, academia and laboratories. The organizer of this symposium is dedicated to take this relatively new branch of science and technology to the mainstream scientific community -Anis Rahman, Organizer
