The role of the program advisor within a single university is to be the primary, central coordinator of the program venture for the university, as well as, the on-the-ground experienced software technology leader providing mentorship, coaching and counseling to the software teams, their work and journeys. As the program grows, it is reasonable to consider having a program coordinator managing the individual universities separate from the experienced software technology leader mentoring the teams. However, on Day 01 and for the initial three to five years it may be reasonable for there to exist a single person managing both roles in order to maintain energy, continuity and growth. In order for this program to be successful among all the working parts, it is imperative that the program advisor, particularly in the role as consultant, coach and mentor to the operational competition teams, have extensive real-life experience building, growing and delivering companies, teams and small, medium and large software systems into the marketplace.

Facilitate university-wide inter-/intra-departmental participation Construct and disseminate university level communications Facilitate the definition, implementation and evolution of the program syllabus, activities, lectures and deliverables Plan, organize and facilitate the university competition between mock companies within the program Design, implement and manage multi-university communications, partnerships and relationships Design, implement and manage private, public and governmental industry communications Solicit operational and financial partnership Plan, organize and run the intra-university competition Plan, organize and run the inter-university competition Facilitate the implementation of additional programs at competing universities across the country and region Serve as advisor to sponsor companies, organizations and governments regarding program implementation, operation and growth Coach teams on problem identification, company and team construct and solution path choices for the program Prepare and lead lecture Prepare, facilitate and lead laboratory Coach individuals and teams regarding operational needs including team contribution, goal-setting, incremental delivery, quality and reaching the definition of done with economic stewardship Consult teams on viability, scalability and reliability of the prototype and actual solution products Consult teams on technical design, implementation, usability of actual solution products Consult on legal contract structures including company construct, employee ownership, university and partnership ownership, end-state product and associative intellectual property Serve as judge on intra-university competition Serve as judge on inter-university competition
