12.Fire Fighting Equipment 13.Lift materials

14.VRV system materials for AC system 15.Pumps & Motors 16.STP System 17.Water Treatment Plant 18.Stair case railing, Balcony Grill, etc. Semi fabricated materials store.

Out of all the above categories of materials, some of the items are fragile and others are unbreakable. Fragile materials require special attention for storage. The main fragile materials are: Tiles (both floor & wall) WC Basin Ceramic Ceramic Cistern Marbles Timber floor tile including skirting Lamps of different types

Some other items though not fragile, are very much pilferable. These include: Locks Hinges Door Buffer Door chain Door stopper Door closer Tower Bolt Eye hole Different types of valves GI Pipe & fittings

Sanitary fittings Fire fighting parts made out of brass/ gunmetal Cables Electrical fitting & fixtures

These items need special care for storage under lock & key.

Since the Store Department is accountable for receipt & issued of materials, all the materials need to be kept in closed door under safe custody.

However, to minimise cost of construction of store house for all the materials four types of storage space may be built up: I. II. III. IV. Godown with Roof and surrounding, covered under lock & key Godown with Roof only Godown with surrounding covered and roof uncovered Open space as stockyard

The materials which would be kept in the above 4 categories of stores space have been shown in Logistic Plan.

1. Space covered with Roof & surrounding to be kept under lock & key 30 x 20= 750 Sq. Ft. X 7 = 5250 Sq. Ft. 2. Space with Roof covered only 30 x 25 = 750 Sq. Ft. X 5 = 3750 Sq. Ft.

3. Surrounding covered with lock & key. Roof uncovered 30 x 25 = 750 Sq. Ft. X 5 = 3750 Sq. Ft.

4. Open yard 30 x 25 = 750 Sq. Ft. X 7 = 5250 Sq. Ft.

Thus total space required would be around 18000 Sq. Ft. Storage equipments like racks, almirah, Bins, cable stands, Pipe hanger will be arranged after assessment of volume of materials to be stored at a time.

All the materials to be used in completing the construction work may be categorized in eighteen major groups for storing each group of materials some space would be required considering the hugeness of the project.

In addition to this, some material handling equipment like fork lift, dumper/ small truck, trolley, steel rack, wooden pallet, bracket for pipe storage, cable stand, etc., are to be kept ready for sending materials from storehouse to required work place in a short time thus cutting down manual handling and chances of wastage due to breakage.

The store house should be built up in such a place that rain water / adjacent waste water does not get inside the store house even during rainy season.

Some materials are to be preserved till completion of the project even after handing over to the customer, hence, codification of all the items are to be made to locate and preserve those materials till such time those are needed.

MANPOWER 4 numbers of labourers, 2 numbers of store assistant and 1 number of supervisors are required to be and engaged in store for receipt & issue of materials and record keeping in a single sheet.

FUNCTIONS OF STORE

1. To arrange receive, inspection, accept and arrange payment and storage of materials. 2. To systematically issue the materials for construction, irrection and operation, etc. 3. To maintain update records on procurement, issue and stocks. 4. To maintain continuing and sustained liaisons with the purchase wing, finance, including suppliers and streamline optimum and smooth flow of materials and expediting settlement of rejection, dispute, etc., that arises from time to time regarding materials supply. 5. To plan and arrange reservation, storage and required materials handling facilities. 6. To identify surplus and absolute materials at the earliest and arrange disposal of such materials as also materials returned as scraps. 7. To maximize proper accounts of materials arranged. 8. Custody & Warehousing Section: This section shall be responsible for the following Receipt of inspected materials in custody cell Issue of materials to indenting department/ contractor To plan & arrange preservation, storage & requisite material handling facilities To identify surplus and obsolete materials and arrange for their disposal.

9. Materials Planning and Inventory control : Materials planning This involves forecasting of materials requirement and fixing inventory levels Inventory Control This involves allotting quantities, setting inventory levels and safety stock levels and implementing inventory systems, analysis and control of lead

time.

10.Material codification & standardisation : This involves allotting the codes to each item of the stores as well as standardisation of description to be mentioned in all indents, receipts, issue vouchers, and other documents.

11.EDP coordination and MIS : This involves the coordination with EDP group regarding computerisation and generation various MIS reports from time to time

12.Handling of bulky Items: Wherever feasible, double handling of consignments from goods inward group to custody section should be avoided, particularly in respect of fragile items, pilferable items, bulky items, chemicals, etc. However, all the receiving formalities should be completed at custody area and proper documents with regard to material location etc., should be made so that the same could be easily located by goods inward group, before directly unloading such materials in the custody area officer in charge goods receipt section and custody group should also be consulted. Restacking of such consignment should be avoided as far as possible.
