AO3 Work as part of a team to organise sporting & recreational activities During event Name: Myself Review of contribution to team Review:
In my opinion, I did well. I turned up on time and was punctual. I knew what to do and told other helpers what their jobs were. I led one of the teams and did handball first. I kept my team under control for most of the 2 hours, although there were a couple of times when it took two or three shouts or whistles to get them quiet. In the end, I thought the whole thing went very well, considering all of the changes we made before in the planning. We (me, Liam and Nathan) changed the sports we were doing around 4 times, as well as changing our group. It started with me, Joe Davies and Sam Callaghan, and then it was me and Liam, and ended up with Nathan as well. Liam also did well, turning up on time and understanding his roles. He was also the leader of the groups and took one team to football first. He did a good job in keeping his group in order and behaved well. He organised his team well throughout all events. He helped set up the football area by putting goalposts up and tidying around the sides. Nathan was well organised and understood his roles with ease. Although I did not see much of him, I thought he controlled his group well and had minimal trouble. His group were mostly up for it and listened well. He turned up on time and set up his area quickly. Danny responded well to his tasks and stuck to them. He was well organised and coped very well. He was referee for some games, time keeper for some and score keeper for others. He made good decisions and hardly got any wrong. Jack, like Danny, was stationed at handball for the 2 hours. He controlled the pupils very well and used a firm voice when refereeing. He turned up on time and was understanding on what his job was. He was fair when officiating and made good decisions. Sam was helping out with the football, and did a great job at keeping the games fair and in order. He used a good firm voice to make sure everyone was listened to him or me when explaining rules and teams. Sam turned up on time and was very effective in doing his roles, like giving pupils walking in at the start numbers 1 to 3 to get the sports started quickly. Jed was also helping out with football, refereeing games and keeping score for others. He did a good job when refereeing and gave fair decision and was not biased. He turned up on time and was clear on what he had to do. Reuben contributed well to the set up and helped out on basketball. He was understanding on what his roles were. He turned up on time and did his roles well. He was a fair referee and was reliable with scoring and timing. Jack was also helping out with basketball, but turned up for the second half of the session, although he did have a valid reason. When he turned up, he was helping officiate and keep score with Rueben.

Evaluation of Diploma Competition

Organisers: Jamie Gillum, Liam Alford, Sports: Football, basketball, handball Nathan Baker Venues: Sports hall, Old Gym, Ball court Numbers: 47 pupils Pre event organisation: Before the School Sports Week, I spent the month before planning it with my group. At first I was working with two different people (Sam & Joe), then the group changed to me and Liam. After this, Nathan was added to our group. Within our group, we first decided to do four events, Swimming, Cycling, Relays and handball. We then changed swimming and cycling because of planning issues and added in Basketball and Football. After that, we removed relays and just stuck with three sports, Football, Basketball and Handball. After this was decided, we delegated jobs to other helpers to ensure the activities ran smoothly. During event management: During the event, we made sure everyone knew what they were doing and asked them to set up their areas (which were already set up mostly). After this, we split the year into 3 groups, one to start at football, one at basketball and handball. We all communicated well as everyone knew where they were going and what time. We all create a risk assessment for each sport we did for health and safety reasons. Also, during my session in the sports hall, we had to relocate to the lower playground because the sports hall was too dangerous as pupils kept slipping on wet parts all over the sports hall. To motivate the pupils, as well as cheering them on, we have created certificates to hand out for 1st place, team player and most supportive etc. Event administration: For the games, we created certificates to hand out to the best players and team. Also we had to get hold of competition sheets. At the end, we have to collect al the sheets together and collate the results to see who won altogether. Also, before the games, we had to visit tutors of our year group and ask them what they want their sports week to look like. Another thing we had to do to make sure it was safe was risk assessments for the sports. Areas for development: Areas I think we need to work on are our time skills, as some groups moved either 5 minutes early or 5 late. This was because we got started a bit later than we expected so some stuck to the 40 minutes and some stuck to the clock and moved when the 40 minutes from the start of the original time.
