Liaison/Instructor Social Work/Title IV-E #0612SWL344
Established in 1964, the Division of Social Work at California State University, Sacramento is fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The mission of the Division of Social Work is to prepare individuals aspiring to become Social Work professionals who can both lead and serve the region in the development and delivery of human services which "promote the value of humankind and improve the quality of life". The Division of Social Work provides an undergraduate and graduate degree program in Generalist and Advanced practice with vulnerable populations at multiple levels, and offers continuing education programs to the professional Social Work community. Title IV-E is a competency based program designed to prepare social workers for a career in Public Child Welfare Services.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a full-time, exempt from overtime, benefited position with a defined
contribution retirement plan through TIAA-CREF. (This position is not covered under the Public Employees Retirement System). Continued employment in this position is dependent upon funding and the mutual consent of University Enterprises and the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee, can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause.
RATE OF PAY: $3,107-$4,660 per month. This is a 10/12 position, working from August 16th through June 15th each
year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited program, and demonstrated post MSW social work experience. Post-graduate work experience in Child Welfare. Must have a valid California drivers license and be acceptable for vehicle insurance coverage under the University Enterprises insurance plan. Must continue to meet the established driving standards. Demonstrated ability to establish, communicate and maintain cooperative working relationships with diverse ethnic and language communities, parents, teachers, administrators, community persons, office colleagues and staff. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations.
PREFERRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED: Teaching experience in Social Work Education or training/clinical supervision experience. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This position receives general supervision from the Project Director and receives daily work direction and supervision from the Project Coordinator. The position acts as a Faculty Field Liaison and Instructor in support of the Title IV-E Child Welfare Training Program. The specific duties and responsibilities are as follows: Direct Faculty Field Liaison Responsibilities to Students 1. Develops appropriate placement sites for IV-E Students.

2. Performs placement planning reviews for incoming students and matching of students and agencies for first year IV-E placements working with the field director. 3. Conducts site visits to agencies to monitor and support the students learning experience and to insure the requirements of the Division of Social Work and Title IV-E program are met. 4. Assists students and field instructors in the development of the student Learning Agreement and explore ways to format the competency requirements. 5. Conducts telephone contacts to obtain updates on students progress and learning experiences. 6. Meets with individual students as necessary around field experiences, assignments, etc. 7. Maintains accurate documentation for student records. Direct Faculty Field Liaison Responsibilities to the Agency 1. Provides information/training on child welfare competencies to the Field Instructors. 2. Monitors the quality of the field instruction and agency experience. 3. Engages in placement development activities as needed. Recruitment Activities 4. Participates in activities associated with IV-E & Division of Social Work recruitment events. Activities include, but are not limited to, conducting informational sessions on the Title IV-E Program, both on campus and within community organizations. Integrative Field Seminars/Classroom Instruction 5. Conducts integrative field seminars and/or classroom instruction as required. Placement Planning and Matching 6. Performs placement planning for incoming first year students, typically beginning over the summer (June) and requires in depth-interview with the student to determine individual education needs or special accommodation that might be necessary. Field Education Committee 7. Participates in the Field Education Committee is expected, including: Attending monthly meetings to address field issues on many levels. 8. May participate on standing or ad-hoc subcommittee of the Field Education Committee. Title IV-E Awards Committee 9. Assists with development of interview schedules, questions and rating instruments and pre-screening of IV-E applicants. 10. Serves on the Advisory Committee for panel interviewing, ranking, and selection of Title IV-E stipend recipients. Miscellaneous Activities 11. Attends faculty meetings, participate on various other division committees, and assist with various other Title IV-E activities as required. 12. Participates on the Title IV-E seminar activities (interview & field placement). 13. Performs administrative duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Title IV-E Project Coordinator, including but not limited to: preparing monthly activity reports and insuring student stipend contracts are completed.
