There are 6 Bolts connecting the two halves of coupling. The bolts are made of 45C8 steel having tensile yield stress of 350MPa. The co-efficient of function between the muff and surface is 0.30. The speed of the hardened steel worm is 1750r.p.m. The worm wheel is to be made of phosphor bronze. The tooth is to be 14 involute. 4. Design an aluminium alloy piston with a flat head for an I.C. Engine having 100mm bore. Draw a neat dimensional sketch of the piston to bring out the details clearly. The maximum gas pressure may be taken as 450N/cm2.

5. Design a crank hook for a 35KN crane. The hook is to be of swiveling type and of circular section. Explain briefly the procedure for evaluating them and determining thereby the size of the rope. b) A high speed mine hoist has a lift capacity of 20KN and the hoist drum of 50r.p.m. The hoist drum is 90cm in diameter. The hoist lift is 600metre and the hoist attains a full speed in 30seconds.
