Applications are invited from male Indian citizens belonging to General, Other Backward Classes/ minority community. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for the post of ASI (RM) and HC-RO) in BSF Comn Set-up in the pay scale of Rs, 5200- 20,200 (PB-I) plus Grade pay of Rs. 2800/- per month for ASI (RM) and Rs.5200- 20,200 (PB-I) plus Grade pay of Rs. 2400/- per month for HC (RO). The post carries, in addition to pay, dearness allowance and other allowances, leave travel concession .medical facility etc, as applicable to central Govt employees and rent free accommodation, ration money or free ration as admissible to the members of the Force from time to time. New pension scheme as per Central Civil Services (extra ordinary pension) amendment rules 2003 will be applicable to the persons selected for appointment on the basis of above test. Vacancies:-

2nd appeal will be given / entertained. Note 1:- Physical efficiency test (PET) is a qualifying test, a candidate must qualify in all the PET events serially as mentioned. Candidates who qualify the 1.6 km race in 6.5 minutes will only be allowed to appear for the long jump and so on. Candidate who fails in any event will be rejected at that stage only and will not be allowed to appear in the remaining events. Candidate who qualifies the physical test, written test, documentation and personal interview will be finally medically examined by the BSF medical officer. The final selection would be made on the basis of overall merit based on marks obtained in written test, dictation test (For HC/ RO only) and interview. Note 2 :- Qualifying the tests does not amount to final selection which will be made on the basis of consolidated merit list of all recruitment centres as per the number of vacancies in respective quota. Note 3:- Admission in recruitment examination will be purely on production of original call letter/ admit card dispatched to the eligible candidate by the concerned centers. (D) APPLICATION FORMAT AND FEES: (a) The candidates may utilize the application format as given in this advertisement as Appendix-"A", by neatly typing the same on double space, on white sheet. (b) Application should be accompanied by a Crossed Bank Draft / Indian Postal Order for Rs. 50/(Fifty) only for GEN/OBC candidates as the examination fee in favour of The Inspector General or DIG/Comdt to whom the application is addressed payable at respective SBI/ post office. However, the SC/ST and Departmental candidates are not required to submit examination fee. (c) Application alongwith fee will be sent to any of the following recruitment centres. Recruitment test will be held at the following centres. Candidates willing to appear at any one of the centre mentioned below may apply on the following address of respective centres. However, no request for change of selection centre will be entertained on subsequent stages.

Note 1: Vac. reserved for ex-service men will be filled by the candidates of open category within the respective quota. If suitable candidates of ex-servicemen category are not available. Note 2: The number of Vac. given above is tentative and may be changed at any stage by BSF HQrs. Amendment for change in vac position/ schedule of recruitment may be inquired from BSF website time to time. Note 3: Application of Govt servants/BSF candidates will not be entertained without NOC / DISC Vigilance certificate and bio-data of the individual from their appointing authority. (C) PHYSICAL STANDARDS: Height : 170 cms Chest: 80 cms (85 cms after expansion) Weight: Corresponding to Height. The height for all candidates belonging to ST/Adivasis or Tribals including Mizos and Nagas will be 162.5 Cms. D) Medical Standards:- (i) Minimum distant vision should be 6/6 and 6/9 of the both eyes without correction i.e. without wearing glasses. (ii) Must pass high-grade colour vision test. (iii) Must not have knock-knees, flat feet or squint in eyes. (iv) Must not be having any defect/deformity likely to interfere with the efficient performance of the duties. 5. ELIGIBILITY FOR EX-SERVICEMEN: (i) Should have retired from equivalent or higher rank in Army, Navy or Air Force in the same Trade. (ii) Total relaxation in physical standard and educational qualification. (iii) Age relaxation to the extent of military service plus 3 years. (iv) Break in service should not be more than 2 years. (v) Should be in medical category ' SHAPE-1'. 6. FOR COMPASSIONATE APPOINTMENTS: Candidates eligible under this category will have to attach photocopies of all essential certificates from concerned BSF unit/Estt of deceased/invalidated person alongwith application Form in addition to other certificates specified in para 9 (b) Eligibility criteria with proformas of essential documents have already been circulated to all BSF Units/Estt. 7. METHOD OF SELECTION: The selection shall be held in two phases as under: - A) FIRST PHASE (i) WRITTEN EXAMINATION- The written examination of 3 Hrs duration will be conducted at the selection centers on the dale and time fixed by HQDG BSF. Written examination will consist of the following lour parts: Syllabus Part I Physics 60 Marks 10+2 / Intermediate of CBSC/ State Part II Mathematics 60 Marks Boards of education. Part III Chemistry 30 Marks Part IV English & GK 50 Marks Current affairs, History, Geography and General Science There will be one OMR based composite paper consisting of above four parts and will be "OBJECTIVE TYPE WITH MULTIPLE CHOICES". Question paper will be printed both in English and Hindi for each category (ASI/RM & HC/RO). Note :- Re-evaluation of OMR sheets will not be permitted. (B) SECOND PHASE (i) Preliminary screening (ii) Physical Efficiency Test (i) 1.6 Km race in 6.5 minutes (ii) Long Jump - 3.65 Mtrs in three chance (iii) High Jump - 1.2 Mtrs in three chance (Ex-service men are exempted from physical efficiency test). (iii) Dictation test (in English - ( For HC/RO) only) - 10 Marks (iv) Verification of original documents. (v) Personal Interview - 25 Marks for ASI(RM) and HC(RO) posts (vi) Final Medical Examination by BSF Medical Officer - Candidates who qualify all the above tests will be put through a detailed medical examination to assess their fitness. (C) Provision of Remedical:- i) Candidates declared un-fit in final medical examination by the Medical Officer of the board can apply for re-medical examination to IG (Comn & IT). HQ DG BSF New Delhi within 15 days from the date of issue of communication by the presiding officer of the board. ii) The appeal will also not be taken into consideration unless it contains medical re-examination Fee of Rs. 50/-in favour of DDO, FHQ BSF NEW DELHI payable at New Delhi. iii) Proof of his fitness on prescribed per forma given by the recruitment board should bo enclosed with application. iv) Appeals received after the due date will not be entertained BSF will not be responsible for any late receipt of the appeals due to postal delay. v) The decision of the re-medical board of BSF shall be final and no 2nd appeal will be entertained as per Govt, instructions and also no reply of the correspondence/

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:- a) Formats of application form and admit card is given as Appendix 'A' and 'B' respectively. b) The following documents be attached with application :- i) Attested photo copies of educational qualifications and date of birth. ii) Three recent passport size photographs, duly attested by a gazetted officer, One each to be pasted on the application form and admission card and third one to be attached with application form. iii) Formats of application form and admit card is given as Appendix "A' and 'B' respectively. iv) SC/ST/OBC candidates must furnish an attested copy of "Valid Caste certificate, issued by the Competent Authority not below the rank of Tehsildar as per prescribed format enclosed as Appx-"C"& C-l (OBC) and Appx-t;D" (SC&ST) failing which their application will not be entertained. v) Attested copy of Domicile certificate issued by Sub-Divisional level Revenue Officer or its equivalent as notified by the State Government for claiming relaxation in physical standard. vi) Copy of certificates in support of claim of Hill area candidate/Adivasis/ Tribals etc for Relaxation in height or chest as prescribed for such candidates as per Appx-'E". vii) Copy of discharge certificate in respect of Ex-servicemen. viii) Two self-addressed envelopes of 25x12 cms size with full postal address candidate neatly written on envelope in Capital letters duly affixed stamps of Rs. 27/ on each. ix) Persons serving in Govt/Semi Govt/ Govt undertaking should apply through proper channel. A copy of 'NO OBJECTION CERTIFICATE' from their present employer be attached with application and also submitted at the time of their personal Interviews. c) On receipt of application, completed in all respects, at the respective addressee, eligible candidates will be allotted a Roll Number on the Admission Card, which will be sent to them as token of acknowledgment of their applications. CUT OFF DATE FOR AGE AND RELAXATION IN UPPER AGE LIMIT: Cut off date for determining the age will be 31-07-2012. The candidate must fulfill all eligibility conditions and should be in possession of all certificates on 3107-2012 i.e. the last date of receipt of application. Candidates appearing in the examination/ awaiting result/ educational certificates need not apply. (i) There will be relaxation in age for SC/ST/ OBC (i. e. 5 years for SC/ST & 3 years for OBC). (ii) The upper age limit shall be relaxable up to 35 years in case the candidate is already in Government service. Government employees / servants claiming age relaxation should be in possession of a certificate in prescribed format from their office in respect of the length of continuous service which should not be less than 03 years in the immediate period preceding the date of recruitment/ closing date of receipt of application. They should also continue to have the status of Government servant/ employees till the time of appointment, in the event of their selection. The candidate will have to produce NOC form his department at the time of applying for the post/recruitment. DEFINITIONS/RELAXATION AND SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR EX-SERVICEMEN - i) Age : Relaxation to the extent of military service plus 3 years as provided in DOP&T Notification No.39016/ 10179-Rectt dated 15.12.1979. ii) Every Ex-Serviceman who has put in not less than six months continuous service in the Armed Forces of the Union, shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from his actual age and if the resultant age does not exceed the maximum age limit by more than three years he shall be deemed to satisfy the condition regarding age limit. However, break in service should not be more than two years. iii) Ex-Servicemen holding the higher rank may also compete in this recruitment for lower post provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria and also they furnish their willingness in writing that in the event of their selection they will not claim the post equivalent to the rank they were holding in the Defence Forces. iv) Character certificate: Minimum requirement will be exemplary/ Very Good/Good category certificate v) Medical Category: A (AYE)/ SHAPE-ONE, at the time of discharge. They should possess to pass the same medical standards prescribed for direct recruits. vi) Ex-servicemen means a person who has served in any rank (whether as a combatant or as a non-combatant ) in the Regular Army, Navy and Air Force of the Indian Union but does not include a person who has served in the Defence Security Corps, the General Reserve Engineering Force, the Lok Sahayak Sena and the paramilitary forces; and vii) who has retired from such service after earning his/her pension; this would also include persons who are released/retired at their own request but after having earned their pension or who has been released from such service on medical grounds attributable to military service or circumstances beyond his control and awarded medical or other disability pension or who has been released, otherwise than on his own request, from such service as a result of reduction in establishment; or who has been released from such service after completing the specific period of engagement, otherwise than at his own request or by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, and has been given a gratuity, and includes personnel of the Territorial Army. viii) Pension holders for continuous embodied services; 7. MINIMUM PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL STANDARDS:

Note: Candidates who intends to avail relaxation in height/chest measurement will have to submit certificate as per Annexure-V duly signed by the competent authority. 8. SELECTION /RECRUITMENT PROCESS: The candidates shall be issued Admit Cards to appear in recruitment test. The date and venue of recruitment test will be indicated in Admit Card. It is clarified that candidature of candidates who are issued admit cards will remain provisional till they are finally selected and submit all related documents/certificates in original and prescribed format. a) DOCUMENTATION: The candidates who report at the designated recruitment venue on the given date and time will be first asked to submit their call letter/admit card and other documents all in original for verification of age, educational qualification, Technical qualification, Caste/category etc. which will be returned on spot after verification. Candidates must bring attested copies of all the documents and two attested photographs. b) PHYSICAL STANDARD TEST ( PST ) The candidates who are found eligible in documentation will be put through Physical measurement Test as prescribed in the eligibility conditions i.e. para-7 above. c) PHYSICAL EFFICIENTY TEST (PET) PET will be qualifying in nature and a candidate must qualify all the under mentioned events. Failure to qualify in any of the events will render the candidate disqualified to appear in written examination. Ex-Servicemen are exempted from PST/ PET. However they will have to appear in Written Examination and final medical examination.

d) WRITTEN EXAMINATION (100 MARKS): The candidates who qualify PST & PET, will be required to appear in written examination which comprise multiple choice objective type questions as under:-

i) Candidates may note that no separate call letters will be issued for appearing in the written examination. ii) The written examination will be held on OMR based Answer Sheets. The duration of written examination will be 2 hours. Candidates will be required to record their answer in OMR sheet with blue/black ball point pen. iii) The OMR answer sheet of written test will be processed/ scanned in an electronic machine. Any wrong entry of roll number, name, question booklet number, question paper series will render the OMR sheet invalid and the same will not be evaluated. The concerned candidate will be responsible for such mistake on their part. Minimum qualifying marks for each post will be as under:- 50% for General & Ex-Servicemen and 40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates. Note: Candidates appearing in written test will not be allowed to carry electronic equipments like mobile phone, calculator, pager, digital wrist watch having calculator etc. Any candidate found indulging in any unfair practice will be summarily removed from the written test and will be debarred from further recruitment process. e) MEDICAL EXAMINATIOIN: The candidates who qualify the Written Test will be put through detailed medical examination strictly on the basis of merit of written examination as per the vacancies and average failure rate. Note: i) The candidates will be called for medical examination over and above the number of vacancies advertised so that if some candidates high up in the merit ( category wise) do not make it through medical examination, candidates lower in merit list could be considered for appointment strictly based on merit. ii) Being called for medical examination will in no way give any legal claim or right to any candidate being finally appointed. f) APPEAL AGAINST FINDINGS OF MEDICAL EXAMINATION :- If a candidate is declared unfit in the detailed medical examination, the grounds for rejection will be communicated to him by the Chairman. The rejected candidates will obtain Form 4, 5 & 6 from the Chairman concerned, if not satisfied with the findings of the Medical Officer, to prefer an appeal for Review-medical examination to Inspector General (Pers.), SSB Force HQ, R.K. Puram, New Delhi, within 30 days from the date of issue of communication in which the findings of the Medical Officer is communicated to the candidate. The appeal should necessarily contain the following; (a) Review Medical Examination fee of Rs. 25/ -(Rupees twenty five) only non refundable, through a Bank Draft/ IPO in favour of PAO, SSB (MHA), New Delhi, (b) Appeal Form 4, 5 & 6 issued by the Initial Medical Board declaring the candidate as Unfit, (c) One self addressed envelope with Rs.25/- postage stamp duly affixed on it. Certificate other than Medical Form 6 (provided by the Chairman of Recruitment Board to the Candidates) to submit appeal for Review Medical Examination will not be considered and rejected straightway. The fitness certificate on Form- 6 is essential to consider their cases for review medical examination and not for any other purpose. 8.4. WRITTEN EXAMINATION: The candidates who qualify PST and PET will appear in written examination on OMR based Answer Sheets which comprise multiple choice objective type question as per given syllabus :- Syllabus for Written Examination (Maximum Time: 2 Hours) i) General English/Hindi : 50 Marks. ii) General Knowledge : 50 Marks. and standards of selection and other parameters available to the Reserved Category Segment and will compete on General Category Standards. Where a post has been specifically earmarked for a particular Category, other than Unreserved - General Category, candidates belonging to the other Categories are not permitted to apply. PROBATION PERIOD: The selected candidate will be on Probation for a period of 6 months of active service from the date of his / her joining the Bank. 9. SELECTION METHODOLOGY: PERSONAL INTERVIEW. A Personal Interview of 50 marks shall be conducted to assess the candidates academic record, power of expression, clarity of thought, qualities of leadership, extra curricular activities, hobbies, general demeanor, behavior, communication skills, suitability for the post, etc. The minimum qualifying marks for the Personal Interview would be 50% marks (45% marks for Reserved Category Candidates). Candidates not clearing the Personal Interview will not be considered for final selection. The shortlisting of the candidates for Personal Interview will be made on the basis of the candidates performance in the Written Test conducted by IBPS and the Total Weighted Standard Score obtained as per the valid Score Card Issued by IBPS. Depending on the State wise number of vacancies, only those candidates who are Qualified in the Common Written Examination conducted by IBPS and possess a valid score card issued by IBPS and rank sufficiently high in the order of merit based on the total Weighted Standard Score shall be called for a Personal Interview in the ratio of 1:3 for General / Unreserved Candidates and 1:5 in case of candidates belonging to the Reserved Categories). In other words, 3 General and 5 Reserved Category candidates against the vacancies stipulated for every State respectively would be called for the Personal interview depending upon their ranking as per the total Weighted Score obtained by them.
