MEDICAL ASSISTANT

POSITION: RESPONSIBLE TO: Medical Assistant Practice Manager/Physician

JOB SUMMARY: Facilitate the efficient operation of physicians clinic and assist in maintenance of a structured office environment. Ensure physicians see the correct patients at the correct times. Confirm patient appointments and assist with completion of forms related to patient clinical care. Act as liaison between physician, patient and the practice.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Associates Degree and Medical Assistant Certification Bachelors Degree preferred

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: Strong written and verbal communication skills Positive attitude and team player. Proficiency in using email and Internet applications. Knowledge of medical practice operations. Ability to perform multiple and diverse tasks simultaneously. Detail oriented and able to enter data into the computer system accurately. Neat, professional appearance.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOTE LIMITED TO: Greet patients and bring them to clinic area for examination Assign patients to exam room based on availability Assist with patient intake and obtain medical histories Update patient medical files and scan medical documentation Prepare radiology orders at the direction of Physician/Physician Assistant/Nurse Answer patient questions at direction of Physician/Physician Assistant/Nurse Assist w/ dressing changes, suture removal, and/or collection of lab specimens Set up exam room for aspirations or injections Inventory and stock exam rooms with all appropriate medical supplies

OTHER DUTIES: Answer telephones Update patient demographic and insurance information Schedule appointments or laboratory testing Review and edit medical transcriptions Complete & submit medical forms at direction of Physician/Physician Assistant/ Nurse Attend all regular staff meetings Complete all other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This role has no supervisory responsibilities.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work may require standing or sitting for long periods of time, as well as stooping, bending and stretching for files or supplies. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Position requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, computer, telephone, calculator, copier and other such office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. Position also requires viewing computer screens and typing for long periods of time, while working in a fast paced and stressful environment.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work involves frequent contact with patients. Work maybe stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.
