The Ohio State University, Graduate Teaching Associate First-Year Writing & Composition Courses ENG 110.01: First-Year Writing, Fall 2010, Winter 2011, Spring 2011, Spring 2012 Designed and taught four sections of first-year writing in a hybrid classroom environment, employing digital media such as blogs, video, and audio to teach classes focusing on the rhetoric of diversity in American popular culture with an emphasis on gender and race. Taught research skills, rhetorical analysis, writing for academic vs. public audience, peer review. ENG 110.02: Literature-Based First-Year Writing, Fall 2011 Designed and taught one section of literature-based first-year writing in a technology classroom. Focused on analysis of two graphic novels (Persepolis and Fun Home) to teach similar skills as in ENG 110.01. Creative Writing Courses ENG 268: Writing Creative Nonfiction I, Winter 2012, Summer 2012, Fall 2012 Designed and taught three sections of the introductory creative nonfiction course, which is most students first creative writing workshop. Introduced students to the basics of the genre, beginning with the different subgenres and ending with discussions of the role of truth and the ethics of creative nonfiction, and with basic workshop etiquette. Had students read a variety of published essays from a diverse group of writers, led writing exercises and workshop of student work.

The Ohio State University, Teaching Apprentice ENG 568: Advanced Creative Nonfiction Workshop, Spring 2011 Apprenticed in Lee Martins advanced workshop, where I (1) designed lesson plans on the personal essay and literary journalism, which I then presented to the class under the insturctors supervision; (2) commented on student work; (3) led one workshop under the instructors supervision; and (4) met with students one-on-one. State University of New York at Brockport, Tutor Peer Tutor, Student Learning Center, August 2007-Spring 2010 Provided remedial tutoring for undergraduate students enrolled in Political Science Research Methods, Freshman English, and Introduction to American Politics.
