Organizational Behaviour 5. Software Engineering Residential Facility Ravenshaw University has limited residential facilities for boys and girls. Selection for admission in the hostels shall be made strictly on the basis of merit. Some seats, however, are reserved for SC/ST and differentially able candidates as per the rules of the University. Students hailing from or having their parents working in Cuttack municipal area are not eligible for hostel admission. Preference will be given to students coming from far off places. For undergraduate students, hostel admission will be done in three streams i.e Arts, Science and Commerce. Allocation of hostel seats will be made on the basis of Higher Secondary / +2 marks. The total number of vacant seats available for undergraduate students will be proportionately divided into Arts, Science, and Commerce streams. Candidates desirous of availing hostel accommodation are advised to opt for hostel in the relevant field in the online application form. Once the selection

list for admission into different UG courses is out, hostel application form will be available in the website. Desirous candidates have to fill up the hostel application form and submit the same in the Hostel Admission Counter. 11 RULES AND PROCEDURE OF ADMISSION 14. Reopening and Commencement of Classes The University shall reopen after the Summer Vacation on 22 June 2012, Friday, and dates of commencement of classes shall be notified by the University after reopening. 15. Application Procedure (i) Candidates seeking admission into different UG courses of the University shall submit online application available in the Ravenshaw University Website www.ravenshawuniversity.ac.in at the link ADMISSION - 2012 on or before June 14, 2012. All applicants should have a valid email ID before applying for admission into UG courses. All communications from the University to the candidates will be through email and website. Application Fee Rs. 160/-

The applicants are required to pay the Application Fee before submitting application online and to quote the particulars of payment of Application Fee therein. Applicants are required to remit the Application Fee either by Demand Draft for Rs.160/- drawn in favour of Ravenshaw University UG Admission payable at Cuttack. OR Applicants can directly deposit the Application Fee of Rs. 160/- through bank chalan only at SBI Ravenshaw University Campus Branch. The chalan form is available in the university website. Applicants are required to make the following entries on the reverse of the Demand Draft / Counterfoil of the Deposit Slip for the chalan. 1. Application ID 2. Name and address 3. Course applied Applicants are required to keep a photocopy of the Draft with them for future reference. The applicants are required to send the following documents by Registered

post or Speed post to the Registrar, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, 753003 after online application so as to reach the University Office on or before June 18, 2012. They can also submit the following documents by hand at Ravenshaw University Counter in all working days on or before June 18, 2012. 1. Signed copy of the application form (printout application form after online submission) with a recent passport size photograph affixed on it. 12 2. Application Fee of Rs. 160/ in the form of Demand Draft OR Counterfoil of the Deposit Slip for Chalan (University Copy), in case of depositing through SBI Ravenshaw University Campus Branch. 3. Photocopy of Certificate of the HSC or equivalent examination. 4. Photocopies of Marksheet and Certificate of the last qualifying examination (Higher Secondary/+2 or equivalent). 5. Photocopy of certificate(s) in support of claiming reservation, weightage and domicile, if any.

All documents should be signed by the candidate as proof of self attestation. Submission of incorrect information with intention to defraud may lead to cancellation of admission, and make the candidate liable for criminal proceedings. The applicants are required to write APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION TO UG COURSE on the top of the envelop. (ii) Separate applications with separate application fees are required to be made for admission into various Undergraduate Honours Courses/Groups such as Arts, Commerce, BBA, IST, ITM, PCM, CBZ, PMCO and HHA. 16. Eligibility for Admission a) For B.A / BBA / HHA 45% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary) without the mark in extra optional, if any b) For B.Com. 45% marks in aggregate and 40% in Compulsory English in the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary) without the mark in extra optional, if any

c) For B.Sc.(IST) 45% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary Science) without the mark in extra optional, if any or Three year Diploma in Engineering from an institution recognized by State Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Odisha. d) For B.Sc.(ITM) 45% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary Science with mathematics as a subject) without the mark in extra optional, if any or Three year Diploma in Engineering from an institution recognized by State Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training, Odisha. e) For B.Sc. (PCM, CBZ and PMCO groups) 45% marks in aggregate and 40% in Compulsory English in the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary) without the mark in extra optional, if any 13 Needless to say, only the students of Higher Secondary Science Stream

will be eligible to apply for all Bachelor of Science Courses in the PCM, CBZ and PMCO group, and for IST and ITM courses. The above marks for eligibility is relaxed by five per cent for SC/ST candidates. 17. Selection Norms (i) Admission shall be made on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination (Higher Secondary or equivalent). (ii) Admission to the University cannot be claimed as a matter of right, and may be refused by the authority without citing any reason thereof. Conduct of the candidate shall be an important factor in the selection process. The decision of the Admission Committee in matters of admission shall be final and binding. (iii) Allotment of subjects for honours and electives will be strictly according to merit. Notwithstanding their position in merit list, candidates not able to get the desired subject out of the options exercised for honours shall not be admitted. Non-participation in counselling shall lead to cancellation of admission.

18. Date of Submission Last date of submission of online application for admission into all UG courses is June 14, 2012. Last date of submission of signed printed application form alongwith the application fee in the form of demand draft / counterfoil of chalan deposit for Rs. 160/- and other required documents as mentioned above at point 15 (i) is June 18, 2012. 19. Publication of Merit List and Dates for Counselling The First Selection List alongwith the Dates for counselling shall be published in the website and the notice boards of the university ordinarily after ten days of the last date of online application. Candidates are required to check the merit list and the dates for counselling and appear for counselling on the scheduled dates with required original documents. NO INTIMATION SHALL BE ISSUED (NEITHER BY MAIL NOR BY POST) FOR ATTENDING COUNSELLING. The final selection for admission in particular subjects / groups shall be made at the time of counselling and the selected

candidates will be required to take admission on the same day or shall be given three days time to take admission on production of all required original documents and fees, if they fail to produce the same at the time of counselling. 14 20. Documents to be Produced at Counselling i) The following certificates and documents in original and self attested photo copies in support of qualification, etc. a) Certificate of High School Examination or equivalent in support of age b) Mark Sheet and Certificate of Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent c) School or College Leaving Certificate d) Migration Certificate, if any e) Certificate(s) in support of claim for Reservation, Weightage and domicile, if any. For Ex-service men and family members category, Discharge Certificate. ii) Blood Group Certificate iii) Four recent stamp size photographs iv) Requisite admission fee and course fee for self-financing courses to be notified alongwith the merit list.

v) Affidavit forms (available in the website) duly filled in The photocopies of all documents should be signed by the candidate as proof of self attestation. Veracity of the documents is subject to police verification, and submission of incorrect information with intention to defraud may lead to cancellation of admission, and make the candidate liable for criminal proceedings. 21. Merit List The merit list will be prepared on the basis of percentage of marks secured in the Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent without extra optional, if any. In case of a tie, the percentage of marks secured in English will have precedence. Allotment of subjects shall be strictly on the basis of merit. 22. Reservation of Seats Scheduled Caste (SC) 8%, Scheduled Tribe (ST) 12%, Ex-Service Men and Family (ESM) 1%, Service Defence Personnel (SDP) 1%, Physically Handicapped (PH) with 40% and above disability 3%. In case of non-fulfillment of reserved seats, they shall be dereserved.

In calculation of reserve seats, any fraction above 0.5 shall be counted as one and any fraction below 0.5 shall be ignored. ST / SC candidates from within the state may be admitted up to 18% (10% ST and 8% SC) beyond the sanctioned strength. (Here, SC+ST 18% which is less than the above prescribed 20 %), subject to the availability of facility and as suggested by the Teachers Council of the respective departments. 15 SC/ST certificate should be from competent authority (MP/ MLA/ Collector/ ADM/ SDO/ Deputy Collector/ Tahashildar). PH certificate should be from the CDMO. Temporary PH certificate will not be considered. Reservation of seats is not applicable for candidates of outside the state. 23. Weightage (i) NCC: Cadets holding B certificates and having passed the last qualifying examination in one attempt shall be given weightage of 10% marks. Of other cadets, those who have represented the State (as well as Central School or

Sainik School) at the national level shall be given weightage of 5% of marks, subject to production of appropriate participation certificates, by DG, NCC or Director, NCC of the sponsoring state. (ii) NSS: (a) State NSS Award- 5%, (b) National Award- 7%, and (c) International participation admission on fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria. Certificate of participation shall be countersigned by Assistant Programme Advisor, NSS Regional Centre, Bhubaneswar. (iii) Sports and Games: (a) Representation of State at Inter-state Schools Competitions in Sports and Games organized by national level organizations 5%, (b) Representation of State at National level 10%, (c) Representation of the Country at International level - admission on fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria. Participation events are to be recognized by the Director of Sports/Council of Higher Secondary Education / other National level Councils or Boards.

Participation Certificates are to be countersigned by the Director of Sports, Government of Odisha. (iv) Co-curricular: Candidates who have earned distinction and won awards at the National or International level in debates, Group Discussions, Essay Writing, Histrionics, Dance and Music, Film Making and similar cultural activity shall be given weightage of 10% in case of representing the State at National level, and admission subject to fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria for representing the Country at International level. (v) Conditions for Weightage: (a) Events of participation for which weightage is claimed should have occurred within two years from the date of admission, (b) Not more than 10% of seats in each course can be allotted on the basis of weightage, (c) a candidate can claim weightage maximum of 10%. (c) Weightage is not given to those candidates who belong to outside the state. 16 24. Admission from Outside Odisha

i) The number of students admitted from outside Odisha to any undergraduate course shall not exceed five per cent (5%) of the strength, subject to a maximum of one per cent (1%) from any particular state. ii) Such candidates who do not have permanent residence certificate for their Odisha origin from competent Revenue Officers, and those who have not passed their High School Certificate or equivalent examination from any school situated within Odisha shall be treated as candidates from outside Odisha. In case of non-availability of permanent residence certificate, candidates claiming Odia origin shall have to prove bonafides on the basis of Land Records and/or educational certificates of any one of their parents. Mere residing certificates issued by Tahasildars will not be accepted. No reservation or weightage is applicable for candidates from outside the state of Odisha. 25. Dress Code The students are required to wear the uniform to be prescribed by the

University on selected Occasions / Days. 26. Period of Admission All admissions for UG Courses shall be completed within 21st July 2012. But in exceptional cases, the Vice Chancellor may give him or her two weeks extension for admission. 27. Forfeiture of Claim for Admission If a selected candidate fails to submit the documents and admission fees on the specified dates of counselling, the claim for admission shall be forfeited. 28. Interpretation of Rules The decision of the Admission Committee with regard to anything not covered in the official Brochure, or has given rise to dispute in interpretation of any rule, shall be final and binding.
